Soul4Real’s end of year compilation LP releases have become as eagerly awaited as Santa. This year’s treat ‘Asking For The Truth (But Praying For A Lie)’ follows another raid on Malaco’s tape shelves time where handpicked gems from Dorothy Moore, King Floyd, Ray Crumley, George Jackson, Bobby Bland, Chuck Brooks, Ted Taylor, Joe Wilson, Eddie Giles, Jimmy Jules, and Reuben Bell all jockey for the position of your favourite track. Many of the tracks are previously unreleased on vinyl and the Jimmy Jules track has been unreleased in any format until now, a track so good that makes owning the LP a must for this track alone.

So due to popular demand we’re just a few weeks away from the special edition release in blue vinyl of MT Jones “Id Be Lying” / “In My Arms” which we’re issuing to support the Motor Neurone Disease Association. Our first issue sold out in days and the original copies have been selling for up to £100.
To add to the MDNA fund we’re auctioning a test pressing, 1 of only 5 produced, with bids starting at £20, and closing at 6pm on Sunday 18th . Bids by PM to me.
Of course if you’d like a regular copy of the record it’s now available for pre-order on our website, and due to land by the end of August

The “From Detroit With Love” EPs from Soul4Real continue to so justifiably give life to tracks that were initially rejected by the Motown machine, but easily stand up as incredible examples of "The Sound of Young America" EPs III and IV each give four more great tracks set free from the confines of the Motown master tape shelves and released for the first time on vinyl (at least legally). ……take a listen to Kim Weston, The Four Tops, Carolyn Crawford, The Vandellas, Oma Heard, Marvin Gaye, Chuck Jackson & Yvonne Fair and you'll ask yourself "how could Motown not have released these tracks when they were originally recorded?"

JUST LANDED!
Two great new double-siders from Jai Alai Records, released for the first time as limited editions on 7" vinyl.
Frankie Beverley's music is absolutely timeless, his style is a masterclass in production and arrangement, matched only by his poetic compositions and seemingly effortless vocal delivery. “Somebody Else’s Arms”, taken from his aptly named ‘Silky Soul’ album, released in 1989, and "Love Is" taken from the 'Back To Basics' CD only album, released in 1993 are just incredible examples of his talents.
Donald Byrd’s move to Elektra Records produced three albums with his new incarnation 125th Street NYC, a group of musicians he taught at North Carolina Central University. The third album 'Sounds, Colors & Shapes' (1982) was produced by Isaac Hayes from which “Everyday”, a fabulous forgotten piece of soulful, mellow jazz funk derives. On the flipside we have a track taken from arguably his finest CD only album,'G Spot' released in 2002 in Elektra Records, Gerald Levert's “The Top Of My Head”, is a delicate string-laden stepper and features his lead falsetto vocal interwoven with his own background vocals. Pure class
