I have news 🤗.

Those of you I've been lucky enough to connect with over the past few years, will know that I found my happy place within the children and family sector.

Soooooo 🥁...I'm now taking this one step further, with a new marketing role at Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity.

I'm so excited to work for this incredible charity and be a small part of the absolutely amazing work they do.

I'm not saying goodbye to Sunshine Strategies altogether but my offering, for now, will be limited to training and consultancy on an ad hoc basis. Just pop me a message if you have any questions!

So that just leaves the most enormous thank you to everyone who has supported me in getting to the point where I'm able to take this next step.

Whether you've been a friend, client, mentor, or we've just had a chat at some point - I appreciate you, keep smashing it 💛.

Well, these waves certainly blew away the cobwebs this morning! 🌪️🌊

With a clear head, I'm planning the week ahead and once again contemplating how many people tell me they feel like social media is taking over their business and distracting them from doing what they really love.

Here's the thing though...

You honestly don't need to spend all day making fancy videos or talking on your stories for hours.

You just need a strategy that allows you to quickly and easily connect with the people you want to know about your products or services.

If you're able to connect with your clients and customers in real life, you can do it online.

✨️What conversations do you have?

✨️What do you have in common?

✨️What do you need tell them about?

Start thinking about how you can bring the real world into your social media presence. Once you've considered these, you can:

👉 Start offering your lovely personality on social media, in the same way you do face to face.

👉 Plan your posts to ensure you're working towards your goals and not just posting aimlessly.

You'll be amazed at the difference these things can make, both to your time and your results 😍.

I have a super quick tip to share as we head into the long weekend:

Don't rely on one source to generate all your clients/customers!

Social media works best in combination with other tools, and as we were reminded at the start of the month, it can be taken from us at any moment.

Consider networking, email marketing, P*P advertising, SEO, traditional print, PR...find what combination works best for you and your business

This weekend though, the gathering of eggs in baskets is fully encouraged 😉. Have a good one folks!

Struggling with what to post on social media? Feeling fresh out of ideas?

Put the phone down, shut the laptop, put your shoes on and get a change of scene.

There's a reason the best ideas come to you when you're not working. Real life and a bit of brain space, will always inspire more creativity, than staring at a screen.

Just don't forget to take your phone so you can quickly note down those little moments of genius 😂😉

Why am I sharing this?🤔⤵️

Believe it or not, it's not to show you how hard I work 😂.

The reason I'm sharing it is because I see a lot of people getting frustrated that social media isn't working for them.

They're posting about their business and engagement is low, their following isn't growing and they aren't making as many sales or generating as many leads as they would like.

If this is you, take a look at the second image and ask yourself, how many of them you're doing? If you're not doing all of it, that's GREAT NEWS! It means there's lots you can do to improve.

On the other hand, it CAN all be a little time consuming and overwhelming, especially if you haven't done it before, but once you get the hang of it, it's not so bad 💛.

Remember, you're a superhero to the people you're doing it all for...maybe a slightly potato headed, one armed superhero, if my card is anything to go by, but a superhero all the same 😂. Have a lovely Mother's Day!

"I just hate doing social media!"

No, not me, the people that come to me for support with it say this to me all the time!

I'm on my soapbox 🙈...but I'm fed up seeing things like:

"USE THIS SOUND TO GAIN 10K FOLLOWERS"

"8 HASHTAGS IS THE MAGIC NUMBER!"

"COMMENT ON 5 POSTS AN HOUR FOR MASSIVE GROWTH".

UGH.

It. Doesn't. Work.

If these things worked to line your pockets with millions of pounds (or even millions of followers), we'd all just whack some trending music on our videos and watch those ideal clients and money roll in.

Yes, pay attention to changes, use trends if they reasonate and work for your business...but don't pin all your hopes for success on them.

It might not sound as exciting as the statements above but the real way to succeed on social media (if success to you means generating more business and brand awareness), is to:

✅ Learn everything you can about your followers

✅ Create a strategy around that information

✅ Implement it

✅ Measure the results

✅ Refine your strategy...then repeat.
