The dog in the picture is named Hachiko.
In 1923, the Japanese citizen (Isabura) found the dog (Hachiko) in a small box inside one of the train cars that he used to take daily to work... and the dog was still a small puppy.. He took it and raised it in his house.. The days pass and Hachiko grows. Isabura used to go to work every day by train, and Hachiko used to drive him to the station and wait at the station until his return about 10 hours later!
One day in the year 1925 (Isabora) had a heart attack at work and died as a result immediately and did not return home! Hachiko waited for his owner at the station platform for 10 full years, until he died too!
A statue of him was designed at the entrance to Shibui Station in Japan, and it is still present.
Loyalty is a word heavier than mountains and longer than ropes.. Its meanings are many: sacrifice, sacrifice, sincerity, giving and loyalty..

From Jason Flom: After 44 years in prison for a crime that NEVER HAPPENED as of a few hours Mr. Vincent Simmons is finally FREE!!!
I'm honored to have been able to help right this horrible wrong and humbled to know that the podcast episode we did with him played a sign part in bringing about this joyous day.
Vincent has been incarcerated since May 23rd, 1977 but today his conviction was overturned, with prejudice which means he can never be tried again for this charge. And yes, he was declared actually innocent.
Big props to his legal team, Justin Bonus and .hamilton.754 and to Mr. Simmons I say this: welcome home, sir. You have all of my respect

The grave of Caroline Christine Walter in the Alter Friedhof, Freiburg. She died aged 17 in 1867. Ever since, her grave has been decorated with flowers on most days by a mystery donor.

Just North of Florence, Italy stands the Appennino Colossus, measuring about 35 feet tall. Erected in 1579, the rough idea for this sculpture is to combine landscape and man; the smooth skin emerging out of the rough terrain or metamorphosing back into a mountain. He even has stalactites for a shaggy beard.

It is modelled after the Titan Atlas, and contains rooms and grottoes inside; their walls studded with shells and crystals. Furthermore there is space in its head for a small orchestra to play music, and there is also a fireplace there too, and when lit, smoke would emerge from the nose.
