Hello everyone 👋 How's your Monday going? We hope that it's treating you kindly!

We mentioned at the weekend that we were coming off the back of a busy week at Hour Lives HQ, with big thanks to V***n 101 as we set up camp in the studio and got the kettle boiling for two great interviews for the next series.

We were very happy to say that we had interviewed the fantastic artist Eleanor Tomlinson and we're equally excited to say that we also sat down to chat with one of the nicest folks that you could hope to meet - Steve Arnott.

If you think that Steve's name is ringing a bell that's because he's the founder of the amazing Hull Beats Bus (check out the website at beats-bus.co.uk) and was the subject of Sean McAllister's powerful documentary film A Northern Soul.

The story of Steve's hard graft and emotional journey to launch the Beats Bus was beautifully told in Sean's film (which we were both hugely inspired by when we saw it) and we wanted to find out "What happened next?" but also talk about Steve himself and understand what drives him, and so much more. It was amazing chat and we're looking forward to sharing it with you.

Enjoy your evenings and we'll bring you more updates again soon!

Good afternoon everybody, we hope that you're having a great Saturday!

It's been a very busy week at Hour Lives HQ this week, with big thanks to V***n 101 as we set up camp in the studio and got the kettle boiling for two great interviews for the next series.

Who did we speak to this week? If you're eagle-eyed you might have already seen a clue or two on the socials! If you missed that though then don't worry, we'll still tell you although we'll definitely milk it over two posts 😉

On Tuesday we were very lucky to be joined by the amazing artist (and just all round lovely person) Eleanor Tomlinson. If you're aware of Eleanor's work then you might already know what an absolute rollercoaster of a journey she has had over the last year and it was great to sit down and chat with her about it all. If you're not familiar with Eleanor's work then do go and find her on the socials (Eleanor Tomlinson Art) and check out her website at eleanortomlinsonart.co.uk 😁

Either way, we're sure that you'll love our conversation with Eleanor and enjoy listening to her story and hearing her thoughts and reflections.

Right, it's time for a cuppa now but we'll be back with another post soon to let you know who else we've been chatting with 🎙 Toodle-pip!

Happy Anniversary, V***n 101 🎉

Happy Anniversary, V***n 101 🎉

In January 2002, lifelong Market Weighton resident Paul Stellings began the setup of community radio station V***n 87 - targeting a month-long broadcast starting in May 2003 to promote Market Weighton's Giant Bradley Festival and offer local information to benefit the wider community. Calling upon some experienced colleagues from hospital radio along with members of the local Chamber of Trade for their collective expertise in broadcasting and operating businesses, the group formed a committee and drew up an official constitution to create Market Weighton Community Radio, which would broadcast under the call sign V***n 87.

After over a year of working with partners the station launched on target at eight minutes to 7am on Sunday 4 May 2003. That time was chosen to coincide with the first part of the station's frequency of 87.9 FM, with a national news bulletin at 7am followed by the breakfast show at 7:03am opening with the track "Inner Smile" by the band Texas. Paul presented that first show.

On 20 December 2007 the station was awarded a five-year community radio licence for the area and began permanent broadcasting on 10 January 2009 on the frequency of 101.8 FM under the new call sign V***n 101.

The rest, as they say, is history 🧡
