We are incredibly excited to announce our next Short Documentary, Alfredo! This is amazing project is being led and Directed by the wonderful Jecca Coleman who will be leading us through Bormio as we aim to help her capture Alfredo's fascinating and heart-warming story. It has been a while since we have had the opportunity to get back to exploring non-fiction stories in awe-inspiring locations, something which this project offers in abundance. So we cant wait to get started.

However, we need your help to get some of the crew to Italy, allowing them to film Alfredo and capture his story over a week. At the beginning of 2021 we were entered into the x CanonEat our shorts film festival by our lecturers Filmmaking_UWE. It was the first festival we had entered and we were over the moon when we received the news that ‘EDEN’ had won best film (screening 3).

As the year came to a close we came full circle and are delighted to announce that we were nominated for the NAHEMI National Student Film Awards 2021 and walked away with two awards. Best Factual and Best Cinematography.

We are all so incredibly proud of both awards, but to win best cinematography is really special to us. No way did we think a documentary would have a chance at winning when put up against all the other fiction films from the amazing undergraduate and post graduates filmmakers across the country.

You’ll be able to catch ‘EDEN’ at selected film festivals as the NAHEMI programme tours the country over the next year and there’s rumours that it might make it’s way onto TV at some point 🤞

Big shout out to our mates Olly Blower and ‘An Exquiste Dinner Film’ who also picked up the award for best creativity. If you get a chance please check out their dystopian film played out on CRT TV’s. It’s sick.

We’ve been busy over the last few months and are excited to start sharing what projects we’ve been working on, collectively and individually.

Well what a year…

Looking back over the last 12 months it’s been hard to try and pick just 10 photos to sum it up. Not gonna lie We’ve been so busy I’ve forgotten half the stuff we’ve been up to.

Bottom line is we’re all so proud of what we’ve achieved over the past year. We’ve made 3 Narrative films, one Doc, a few bits of commercial work for some small companies. We’ve also managed to land our first big job producing content for the National Trust and a few others up in Yorkshire and from that have been able to start investing in our own kit to use on future jobs.

We’ve got into some films festivals and somehow managed to pick up some awards along the way. We can’t wait till the public releases when we can finally share our films with the world.

So yeah, big ups to all our mates we’ve worked with, both crew and actors, and thank you to everyone that’s supporting us along the way. We honestly can’t wait until May when we graduate and can finally start doing this whole film thing for real…

Goes without saying COVID’s been a fu**er but I’ll say it again, we’re so proud of what we’ve managed to achieve given the circumstances. We’ve worked out asses off this year and COVID’s just made us work harder and think out side the box to find solutions.

Wishing you all a very happy Christmas from all of us and our mates at 2b13.

Just wanna thank everyone that’s worked with and supported us over the last year, it’s been proper good. We’ve been hella busy, making films for uni, darting about the country for film festivals, and also managing to land some paid work and we can’t wait till next year when we can start doing this all properly.

We couldn’t make a film about cold water swimming without getting in ourselves! Surprisingly the water was rather cold so we could only do 15 minute of swimming at a time before having an hour or so break to warm up and not catch hypothermia. To make full use of the time, we planned everything meticulously and used a 2, sometimes 3 camera setup to get as much coverage as we could.

It took a bit of getting used to, and pulling focus with freezing cold fingers wasn’t the easiest of jobs, but we preserved and got there eventually.

Our DOP shot closeups from the bank on a 70-200 and was tasked with picking off some lovely off speed details. And then running around in the background like a walking lamppost was .schoettner collecting contextual material and lots of delicate watery shots.

As Charlie were in the lakes with Eden, once we pressed record we weren’t able to communicate. This meant preparation was key and all our brains had to be in sync. Because we’re all nerds and talked about it way too much in the weeks and days before hand, we managed to make it work, and got some lovely stuff.

Here we have a very awkward Charlie being interviewed and a very proud Patrick looking over him like a mum at the doctors.

We all had a great time at Nottingham International Film Fest at the weekend. It was a very weird but special experience watching our film in a cinema for the first time. .schoettner’s grade looked spectacular and ‘s sound was punchy as f**k.

Thanks to the guys for being so friendly and making our first festival experience a fun one. It was such a compliment to hear that people didn’t realise EDEN was a student film.

We’re delighted to announce that EDEN has been shortlisted for a Grierson Award for the Best Student Documentary.

We’re all extremely happy that our 2nd year doc is even being considered, especially when you see the other great film schools we are up against, and were very proud to e repressing .

We’re back on the socials now so keep an eye out for updates but we will know in September if we get through to the final nominations.

In two weeks time we begin shooting for our next project ‘Monster’, a short film written by our mate Neil. We want to thank everyone who's donated to the production so far, your immense generosity is going to make this film a reality and has allowed us to book locations and make costumes that we wouldn’t have been able to otherwise. We can’t wait to get on set with all these talented people and finally sink our teeth into a drama production!

The dream team Maryam and Guy recording all the soundy bits for ‘EDEN’ late last year in Windermere.

The film is now finished and we can’t wait to share it with you all. We were overwhelmed with the feedback we got from our peers and tutors and pretty chuffed with ourselves to say the least.

We'll keep you posted with news on the release but 'till then we’ve got a bunch of BTS content and a couple of exciting new projects to share with you.
