Yesterday was a busy one, 12 long hours, teaching, coaching, filming, photography and lots of tea making! we finished off the day with a singalong around the piano! Huge thanks to Nicola Prestage Tiger Features & Lobster Productions for capturing what we do!

What the right setting can do..
I was asked to photograph this client’s product, a beautiful handmade coffee table, to feature on his website.

We talked about what he had in mind and came to the conclusion that a simple white studio would not do it justice.

So I went on the hunt for a location and found this beautiful farm house.

When we had it set up, it was a natural fit in the house. I love how the natural light from the window put a spotlight on it. It felt like the table had always been there.

Sadly for the owner of the house we had to pack it up and take it away again. 😉

This is definitely one of the most impressive historical buildings in Spain that I have seen so far. I mean, it’s hard to top Sagrada Familia but the Cathedral of Córdoba is up there.
This super old cathedral has been re-purposed and extended for decades between Mosques and church several times which makes it super diverse with so much history and detail!
And the light is amazing! Just magical.

It was super busy when we walked in but luckily we are one those people who are super slow because they want to see and read everything so after a couple of hours most tourist had left and it was almost empty and quiet.

Wandering around in Cambridge yesterday I stumbled upon this quote.
Seeing and feeling are so closely connected, it shapes our opinions and vision on the world and people.
By showing a different side of something or tell an untold story, the viewer will see and therefore create a different feeling or opinion. This is what storytelling and film does.

Grapes Of Luck - Own them like a Queen! 🍇

In Spain they have the tradition of eating 12 grapes at 12 o’clock on New Year’s Eve “Las doce uvas de la suerte”. And (Spanish friends, correct me if I’m wrong)
Each grape you eat means good luck for the coming month of the year. I just love that idea of this tradition.

The idea is that you need to eat one grape at every clock strike at 12 o’clock. That is to say the least challenging!

I tried it when I lived in Spain. I ended up with about 8 grapes stuck in my mouth not being able to keep up.

Rory and I also tried it last year when we celebrated the end of 2020 with our friends on zoom. As it was quite spontaneous we didn’t have grapes and used olives instead. I tell you, big mistake. Try to eat 12 greasy olives in 12 seconds and you’ll probably end up hanging over the bin regretting your actions. But, it was fun and maybe a proper ending for that year.

Now, another year has started! And as I write this, the sun comes out after what feels like weeks behind the clouds.

So I wish you a sunny (in every sense of the word) and healthy 2022! ✨

It’s that time of the year again. ✨

What was your 𝕙𝕚𝕘𝕙𝕝𝕚𝕘𝕙𝕥 this year?

For me, 2021 has been a pretty interesting year. Starting as a video editor at , filming , getting to know and working with so many new and interesting people!

But also being able to go back to the Netherlands and seeing my friends and family after 1.5 year.

It’s probably going to be a tough winter again, for some of us again in lockdown. Hang in there! 💛

I saw this butterfly on top of the Acropolis. Like a kite it was gliding through the air, coming super close to us. For some reason, flying the same pattern over and over again.
Fascinating to watch, but hard to capture!

Does anyone know what kind of butterfly this is?

Working on post-production of Lucidity on this sunny day, reminds me of that first sunny day of shooting after weeks of rain.

It was so much fun working on it and laugh (while slightly frustrated) about all the noise that comes with the first good day of spring. 🌸
