Tube Saturation!

Tube saturation is probably my favourite type of saturation, introducing a warm, smooth presence when used sparingly and a punchy, gritty presence when pushed hard!

I’m lucky enough to have this TLA M4 16 channel tube desk which offers 16 channels of tube-y goodness🤤

If you want a smooth, clean and warm tone when you EQ…

…A tube EQ is what you want. Because a Pultec pair will set you back almost 10 grand, I decided to go for this more affordable option by and my goooooodness does it sound great!

I’ve had this thing for a little while now and use it on almost every master I do.

Warm, deep lows and smooth, clean highs, what more could you ask for?

How many reverbs do you use at once? I love using these two on a bus send each, one for a short, ambient reverb and another for a long, room reverb.

Graphic EQs!

…and why I love them!

This is the PERFECT hardware tool for getting rid of very specific resonances in sounds. The Crème del la crème for corrective usage! My DBX 1231 contains 31 thin, specific bands for extreme precision. The only downside… zeroing the whole thing😂

New speaker day! Picked these up the other day for the studio🕺🏻

You may be wondering ‘Lucas, why have you got some relatively cheap speakers for mixing and mastering? Don’t you need really expensive speakers and amps to mix and master?’…

Stay tuned, all will become clear soon as I’m going to do a video in the near future explaining why having speakers like these is super important when mixing!

‼️upgrades people‼️

Recently got a bit sick of the old desk in the studio so decided to recycle an old grand piano lid to create a beautiful new desk!

Was a bit scary cutting this being probably over 100 years old and I really didn’t want to mess it up but it came out a complete success! Thank you for the photos

Did some room measurements the other day in the studio with this odd little microphone! Was great fun and it’s a great to find any problem areas which can be improved on!

Very happy with these results however. A flat frequency response is all I can ask for as an engineer and it’s pretty damn flat if you ask me😍
