I’ve recently begun experimenting with using some of my hardware ‘wrong’…

Started chucking kicks and snares through this Focusrite Voice Master Pro and experimenting with the settings and oh my looooord it works a treat. Little reminder to just play while mixing or making. You get the best results when it’s fun to do.

Tube Saturation!

Tube saturation is probably my favourite type of saturation, introducing a warm, smooth presence when used sparingly and a punchy, gritty presence when pushed hard!

I’m lucky enough to have this TLA M4 16 channel tube desk which offers 16 channels of tube-y goodness🤤

If you want a smooth, clean and warm tone when you EQ…

…A tube EQ is what you want. Because a Pultec pair will set you back almost 10 grand, I decided to go for this more affordable option by and my goooooodness does it sound great!

I’ve had this thing for a little while now and use it on almost every master I do.

Warm, deep lows and smooth, clean highs, what more could you ask for?

How many reverbs do you use at once? I love using these two on a bus send each, one for a short, ambient reverb and another for a long, room reverb.

Graphic EQs!

…and why I love them!

This is the PERFECT hardware tool for getting rid of very specific resonances in sounds. The Crème del la crème for corrective usage! My DBX 1231 contains 31 thin, specific bands for extreme precision. The only downside… zeroing the whole thing😂
