I’m not one for a gushy Valentine’s/Love Day post, so let’s switch it up and talk about something that really sparks conversation: those social media “icks” that make us cringe! 😬🥴🤢😵😵‍💫

As a social media expert and strategist, here’s one of my top offenders:
poor-quality images with zero context. No captions, no backstory, nothing— just wasted a vertical rectangle 😂🤣 (not quite the same as the old infamous IG squares) onyour feed!
It drives me up the wall because we all know how powerful a well-crafted caption or compelling visual can be.

♡ After all, a strong social presence is all about authenticity, creativity, and connection— so let’s keep it interesting and fun, shall we?

Yesterday I covered the vertical feed view and today I want to update you about the changes at the top of your page.

Although it was a minimal change with the account name about and the bio left centre aligned

Most people I’ve spoke to this week hadn’t noticed the difference 😮 Did you?

What a week! 😅

My pink coat is brightening a January blues for sure.

After the drama of smashing my main phone screen and dealing with the never-ending struggle of logging in and resetting passwords, I’m finally back!

Instagram made some major updates this weekend that even I seriously struggled to keep up and lost count after 8 of them!!!
From a vertical feed to longer reels, there’s a LOT to share.
You’ve probably noticed a few changes already, and there are even more on the way.
Trust me, it’s a lot to take in! 🤯

But don’t worry – I’ve got you covered! I’ll be diving into all the updates in my email tomorrow and going live Friday morning to break it all down.

What a week for me!
It started with a smashed iphone screen, peaked with booking our Summer holiday and then a Sunday wobbly full of getting my head around all the new Instagram updates and what’s going on with TikTok in the USA.🤯😝🫣
I certainly made up for lost screen time today!

For now, I’ll focus on what I discussed in last live - I’ll go live on Thursday this week to discuss ALL the updates that launched over the weekend and talk about the new editing app Insta plan to launch in March.

So here goes:

❥ TRIAL REELS
If you wanna test out a new type or content, just go for it!
Trust your gut & post it… There’s always the option to hide it from your profile or delete it.
Trial Reels (shown to non-followers only) is to encourage experimenting with Reels again and in doing so, gain more confidence. It’s time to no longer post to please the algorithm and get creative and have fun with reels again.

❥ SCHEDULED DMs
Instagram has out a new feature that allows users to schedule DMsfor a future date and time.
The scheduling option enables users to set a specific time for their messages to be delivered. Hold down the send button until the date wheel appears.
This is particularly useful for responding within office hours, planning events, professional messages, or other time-sensitive communications.

❥ VISIBLE VIEW COUNT
This is a trial when the user can see the reach/views on their profile. Exactly the same as on TikTok

Oh baubles 🤬
Why did the past week fly by?!?!

Luckily I’m organised and pretty much done but am hearing many of you are spinning plates before you can switch off and enjoy some family festivities.

So I want to share my top tip to - apply the 80/20 rule today.

To help me prioritise, I identify the 20% of tasks that drive 80% of results and focus on these high-impact activities!
Start by using a ‘high priority first’ approach to structure my day.
Remember, time is your most valuable asset. Spend it where it truly matters to achieve the most.

Schedule posts for Christmas Eve through until New Year and turn those notifications off!
Share stories and reply to engagement/DMs when you want to.

Everyone has a break at Christmas - it is allowed and expected.
