A 37-year-old man has been jailed for 13 years for a number of serious s*xual offences in Aberdeenshire.

Russell Maitland was sentenced at the High Court in Aberdeen on Tuesday, 14 January, 2025 for a series of serious s*xual assaults that took place between 2011 and 2022.

He previously pleaded guilty to the offences at the High Court in Aberdeen on Monday, 25 November, 2024.

An inmate who went viral for having s*x with a prison officer behind bars was reportedly violently attacked by a fellow lag whilst holding his three-month-old baby.

Linton Weirich was last year filmed romping married prison officer Linda De Sousa Abreu in an X-***ed clip that was widely circulated online, sparking a police investigation.

Weirich, who is currently serving a four-and-a-half year sentence for a £65,000 burglary, was reportedly set upon by a fellow inmate at HMP Swaleside - where he was moved to from HMP Wandsworth following the s*x scandal.

Police and the South East Coast Ambulance Service attended the prison on December 18, where the victim had sustained head injuries and fell onto the tot, leaving her with a fractured skull.

Officers say a suspect has been identified and an investigation is ongoing, although no arrests have yet been made.A Prison Service reportedly spokesperson said: “Police are investigating an assault on a prisoner at HMP Swaleside on 18 December. It would be inappropriate to comment further while they investigate.

” Kent Police reportedly said: “It is reported a prisoner was punched by another inmate in an area used for visitors. The victim sustained head injuries and fell onto a three-month-old baby he had been holding.“The baby suffered a fractured skull but has since been discharged from hospital. The suspect has been identified and an investigation is ongoing.” South East Coast Ambulance Service reportedly confirmed it attended an incident at the prison that day.

Weirich was being visited by his girlfriend and holding the three-month-old during the attack, which saw both Weirich and the infant rushed to hospital, a source claimed. The baby's mum was also left in a state of distress after realising her child was "not responding" following the attack.

Ian David Karslake Watkins (born 30 July 1977) is a Welsh former singer who was best known as the lead singer and frontman of the rock band Lostprophets.

His career ended after he was sentenced to 29 years' imprisonment in 2013 for multiple s*x offences, including the s*xual assault of young children and infants, and the possession of "extreme" child and animal pornographic material, a sentence later increased by ten months for having a mobile phone in prison.

His bandmates disbanded Lostprophets shortly after his conviction and formed No Devotion with American singer Geoff Rickly.

The UK's most dangerous prisoner will be locked underground in a glass box for his 51st Christmas behind bars. Robert Maudsley was locked in a CSU cell at Wakefield Prison in West Yorkshire in 1983, after he killed child abuser John Farrell when he was just 21.

Maudsley is officially classified as Britain's most dangerous prisoner, a man said to represent such a high risk to those around him that he has spent the past quarter of a century in virtual isolation. With no prospect of ever being released, he will remain in prison in isolation until he dies.

Jack McRae, is accused of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm to Reynhard Sinaga at HMP Wakefield on 4 July 2023.

Sinaga was jailed in 2020 after being convicted of drugging and ra**ng 48 men in Manchester, although police said at the time they believed his real number of victims was much higher.

Appearing at Leeds Magistrates Court via video-link from HMP Frankland, Mr McRae, 32, did not enter a plea and was remanded to appear at the city crown court on 16 January.

He is also charged with three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, one of attempting to cause actual bodily harm and one of assaulting a prison officer, all of which are said to have happened at HMP Wakefield between May and August 2023.

A co-defendant in the case, Andrew Beadie, was due to appear on a charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, but refused to leave his prison cell at HMP Long Lartin in Worcestershire, the court was told.
