Ben Clowes Cameraman Ben Clowes is an experienced, London-based Director of Photography and lighting cameraman with almost 15 years experience.

Ben Clowes is a London & Suffolk-based Director of Photography & Lighting Cameraman with almost 20 years experience in documentary, sport, music, food & drink, fashion & corporate promotional filming He relishes the challenges of self-directed shoots with lighting and audio and can be trusted to deliver what’s needed in sometimes stressful and challenging circumstances. He also loves fitting in wi

th a crew and working in a team environment. He is familiar with most camera formats and is available with or without kit. Ben’s love of cameras started at the age of eight when he was given a stills camera for his birthday. Capturing life on film has always fascinated him. A passionate mountaineer and paraglider pilot, a camera has always accompanied him on various expeditions around the globe. Although his working life started in the City of London working for a financial company, Ben soon realised that there was more to life and left to transform his passion into his career. He started filming documentaries fifteen years ago, which took him all over the world, filming from the summit of Everest and from tanks and helicopters in Basra, Iraq. Although he still enjoys documentary style filming, he is now more often found filming sport, music, fashion and food & drink videos as well as corporate promotional videos. Whatever the subject, he brings his enthusiasm for capturing stunning images and always works hard to ensure that expectations are surpassed.

In St Bart’s for work and just after checking in to the hotel there was a 6.4 magnitude earthquake which was almost as exciting as coming in to land at the airport (apparently the third most dangerous in the world?!)

What a stunner of a day. Blue skies and light winds. Ideal conditions to be filming the birth of a new vineyard just outside my village. Planting started yesterday and finished today. Great work by the team . Loved your kit!

I’ve been shooting a lot more stills than usual in the past couple of weeks. I went back to the willow plantations for some sunrise and wildlife shots and came back with a good selection for .willow

They are working on an edit of my footage from last week which should appear on their feed/website in the next week or so.

Can anyone identify the bird in the tree in the third shot? It had a very distinctive flight.

It was good to get back behind the camera for the first time in a while on Tuesday. This was a film shoot with the lovely team .willow whose new approach to growing, maintaining, harvesting and selling cricket bat willow is stirring up the market. Willow plantations absorb CO2 throughout their growth which is then locked into the final product.
After a 3:30am alarm clock I was on location in a willow wood just as the sun made an appearance. Having come face to face with four deer as I entered the wood, I thought I’d be out of luck finding another but this one appeared on cue in a clearing. The plantation supports so many wildflowers, birds and insects - the birdsong at dawn was incredible.

It’s just over a year since I shot this piece for with . I’m looking forward to getting out on jobs with my camera once lockdown is eased but for the moment it’s a good time to update showreel, catch up on blog posts and do things I’ve been meaning to do for far too long.

As always it was a joy to film these pieces being created in the workshop. They can be seen on the Linley stand at Masterpiece London 2019 from 27th June to the 3rd July.

Discover the craftsmanship behind our new Masterpiece collection. Crafted with mango veneers, the furniture stands out with geometric patterns and mother of pearl marquetry.

One of the best views down the Thames in central London? I think so! A great view for today’s job.

Last month I filmed this interview piece as part of a series of videos for Linley’s stand at Masterpiece 2019. Earlier this week I filmed the pieces being made in their workshop and look forward to being able to share that soon.

Being at the Masterpiece fair is a great opportunity to show your wares, your skills, your ability and your personality. .
