In summer 2021, The Paper Trail’s track SAVAGE blasted out across the airwaves as it was picked up by BBC Scotland Introducing, BBC Radio nan Gàidheal and Amazing Radio UK & USA. Since then, the Glasgow band have been quietly working away on completing their debut album, of which new single RECHARGING offers the first sharp, bittersweet taste.
File this one next to Interpol, The War on Drugs, Modest Mouse, and The Twilight Sad. Lyrically, singer Konrad Stroak describes the song as another trip into the “anxiety prison” of self-doubt, but this isn’t a shy and nervous track. Carried on insistent drumming, a bed of distant acoustic guitar and spiked, reverb-soaked lead guitar, RECHARGING ranges from hesitant, whispering vocals in the verses to a blasting, hooky chorus that demands to be cranked louder every time you hear it.
Adding to the wall of sound comes a guest appearance from Sarah Connor of fellow Glaswegian rising stars ST. DUKES, who lends her vocal talents to duet on the final choruses.
Konrad cites the late great Scott Hutchison of Frightened Rabbit as a key inspiration here: “I want to lay my heart on my sleeve, and try to be as raw, revealing and personal with my lyric: ‘The ground is falling under me, there’s nowhere to put my feet. The world has no sympathy... sympathy for me...’ We all struggle with the fear of losing our place in the world.”

We're delighted to share with you 'Savage' the new single from new MoFi signings The Paper Trail available on your usual digital platforms today. This wee banger is the taster for an actual proper physical album to follow in due course and is the first fruit of a prolonged, lockdown-enforced period of writing and creativity for the band as they were stuck in their Covid-infested Glasgow home in 2020. The song has been described by radio presenter and producer Stuart Macauley as "Sounding HUUUUUGE" (yes that's five capital Us, big enough to cause a shortage of vowels for use by other bands seeking superlatives).
We're pant-wettingly excited to share more of the album with you as we move towards a release. Although we should probably get that looked at by a doctor, could be age-related. Although the music certainly isn't, it's a future timeless classic...

Fielding Chase – Apocalypse
Featured here are infectiously radiant electro-centred pieces with awesomely catchy melodies of varying tempos that get you moving, yet also donning this subtly underlying dark vibe to it that both has you curious and adds a hint of atmosphere.
The vocals are on pretty good form with a cybernetic tinge mixed in to make them all the cooler. The keys and the production work are equally sublime, and the riffs and beats have a real pulse to them.
A cracking, action-packed debut from the Montrose duo, who may be fresh to the scene, but I predict will be making waves much sooner than later.

The most noticeable facet about Peter Cat is his distinctly magnetic personality and unique charm that really makes him stand out from the pack, it’s hard to think of others that are on his level in that regard. He also has a fantastically healthy, extensive voice that nails the exact pitch and emotion he looks for.
The record is loaded with a little of everything: addictive hooks, invigorating melodies, jamming riffs, occasional displays of sweet keys and bopping rhythms, but most importantly are the unforgettable lyrics that are smart and often humorous. The content is insanely interesting, and there’s never a point where your mind wanders or doesn’t pay attention, you’re totally fixated the entire way through.
Whether the tracks follow a familiar formula, an oft-kilter direction or effectively dive into the legitimately heart-wrenching material (if The Day After The Funeral doesn’t get your eyes watering, I’d be questioning your humanity), it’s just a flawlessly executed package.

We'd planned to have the first album release on the label out in late spring but then of course the lockdown came and our plans were put on hold. We still can't have the massive extravaganza of a launch party and subsequent world tour we were planing in support, but finally, in late autumn Peter Cat's debut LP 'The Saccharine Underground' will hit the shelves and we can't wait to share it with you all. Would it be hyperbolic to say it's release can singlehandedly save 2020? Probably, but we'll say it anyway.
The observational songwriting and wry humour of the likes of Jarvis Cocker, Neil Hannon and Stephen Merritt is summoned with aplomb across 10 tracks of sharp, gorgeously ornamental pop, rock and electro. Recorded over a two-year period at Glasgow’s Green Door Studios, and mixed by production wunderkind Chris McCrory of Catholic Action,
