The self-styled ‘Sir Douglas’ embraced a breathtaking array of musical styles and sounds throughout his career, and this smartly-appointed 5 CD box set, which features all of the recordings The Sir Douglas Quintet made for the Smash and Mercury labels, 1968-71, is a superb showcase for Sahm’s unique celebration of ‘The Groove’.
