So many thoughts when I think of you
Too many words so I’ll just pick a few
You grew up in different times
Where sirens wailed and clocks still chimed
Overhead the bombers flew
But still you kept on smiling through
So many memories still left unshared
Too many sentences left hanging in mid-air
You milked the cows and swept the floor
While all the young men went off to war
You saw the buildings around you burn
And prayed your young men would return
And now you’re gone and I’m glad that I
Have this song to remember you by
You leave a space that can’t be filled
They say time cures all but we miss you still
The velvet curtains may have closed
But thank you for the life you chose
