Historic Chester city centre building to be used for holiday lets

Part of a Grade II listed Chester city centre building - recently used as a language school for foreign students - is to be turned into short stay accommodation. Community's desperate effort to save much-loved Cheshire park from housing developers

A fundraiser has been launched as part of a campaign to save a much-loved Cheshire park from development. Residents in Rudheath, Northwich, have been protesting against plans to build houses and a care home on St Johns Park.

The proposal for the site, submitted by HBV Northwich Limited and Griffiths Park Land Limited, is to build 46 affordable homes and a three-storey, 66-bed care home. A decision is expected in the next three weeks.

Cineworld yobs 'headbutt' doors and hurl abuse at staff

Trouble has flared up again at a Cheshire retail park after youths were spotted "headbutting" doors to a cinema and being abusive to staff.

Police were called to reports of anti-social behaviour outside Cineworld on Trident retail park in Runcorn on Tuesday evening (January 24). Witnesses reported youths hurling abuse at employees and kicking and headbutting the doors.

Heavy snow to return to Cheshire with 2cm falling every hour

Cheshire is set to see heavy snowfall next month, forecasters say. Up to 2cm of snow could fall per hour in flurries during the first week of the month, according to MetDesk's WX Charts.

'Dire' potholes in Crewe spark anger over government funding cuts

A number of 'dire' potholes on roads across Crewe have sparked anger over the cuts in council funding from the government. Councillors representing the town voiced their concern after spotting the 'deep' defects on Halton Drive and Sunnybank Road.

Posting on Facebook, Cllrs Connor Naismith and Marilyn Houston, who represent Crewe West on Cheshire East Council, said they had been reported to the authority. They then said the Government's cut in funding to councils had left the roads in a 'terrible state'.
