RaĂșl GĂłmez - Instrumental (1977)
Weâre thrilled to unveil the latest reissue in Mr Bongoâs Cuban Classics series: RaĂșl GĂłmezâs captivating 1977 instrumental album. Blending orchestral disco and jazz-funk with Afro-Cuban rhythms and cinematic influences, this album is a standout. đ·âš
Notable tracks include 'Mi Samba Carnaval' with its stunning drum break, bubbling synths, and exquisite arrangements, and the romantic, filmic quality of 'Tema De La Sierra,' a go-to sampling source for many producers. đđ¶
Also featured is â6 Son,â with its mind-bending psych guitar, and 'Dacapo,' written by Gilberto Peralta, delivering an atmospheric and vibrant Latin shuffle. This track is one of the few to feature scat vocals, merging Brazilian percussion with dancefloor vibes for a burst of feel-good brilliance. đžđ

Mr Bongo Boutique is our sync repping arm, where we work as a co-operative with some of the most amazing labels, publishers, producers and artists.
We are proud to add Rona Mac (she/her) to our sync roster. Rona is a queer singer/songwriter creating Lo-fi, Alt-Indie with Folk and Americana influences, crafted in her caravan home-studio in West Wales. Her music comes raw and unfiltered, aching with the kind of nostalgia found in rural, rugged places.

We couldnât believe it when Chicago DJ/digger/producer, Marc Davis (Black Pegasus), told us he had heard of a vault of unreleased Don Blackman material, that had never seen the light of day.
Don Blackman is a truly iconic, cult artist. A pianist, songwriter, producer, and vocalist from New York he is a mystical figure for record collectors, one of those artists where if you found an old dusty record with Donâs name on it, youâd buy it on sight. Hip-hop heads, jazz, funk, disco, rare groove, and soul fans all share a love for his music, it seems to possess a quality that resonates with a wide spectrum of music lovers.
âYour Love Makes Me Crazyâ is as funky as it gets, with infectiously catchy vocal hooks, and a serious jam.
âSay Youâll Be Mineâ is a classy, soulful boogie, instrumental number, that shows off Donâs masterful piano playing.
Both tracks warrant full attention and capture a genius at work.
Mr Bongo control One Stop rights for both tracks.
We are very excited to introduce Bala Desejoâs debut album âSim Sim Sim', which translates into English as 'Yes Yes Yes'. A fusion of genres, taking twists and turns as it progresses.
There is Tropicålia, MPB, rock, samba-canção soul-funk and reggae in the mix. It possesses many of the qualities of a classic album from Brazilian music's golden era of the 60s and 70s, but also manages to sound very now, which is not an easy task to pull off.

It's movie night at Mr Bongo : so whether is a Thriller / Horror, Sci-Fi, Action / Adventure, Mystery / Crime or a Coming of Age / Rom Com, our five track movie playlists have got it covered.
You might want to travel back to 1955 and let Sun Ra & The Cosmic Rays mend a broken heart or skip a few decades to 1996 where Galactic Explorers' cosmic ambient instrumental will take you to a galaxy far far away. Or if cover versions are your thing, the unmistakeable percussive grooves of Bongolia and the retro-tinged garage freakout of Psychotic Reaction will have you reaching for the popcorn. So sit back and enjoy the ride.

Here at Mr Bongo Boutique (our sync repping arm), weâre cock-a-hoop to be representing Original Gravity Records. Run by Producer, Neil Anderson. Heâs often the sole person on the recordings and puts music together with different musicians and vocalists from all around the world.
Check out the killer covers, including The Stereophonics âDakotaâ and (cover of The Happy Mondays cover) âKinky Afroâ in the Disco Sync Picks playlist, you can find this on our Linktree - https://linktr.ee/mrbongosync
Born from a love of 60s and 70s Blues, R&B, Funk, Soul, Latin, Ska, Reggae & Rocksteady music, Original Gravity records is new music with a period authentic sound. A mixture of cover versions (taking more âmodernâ songs and covering them in an earlier style to make the listener think twice as to whether the version is the original or not) and original music, with one eye / ear on what would work well for the DJs who ply their trades in the underground/niche Mod and Reggae clubs. Weâre more than a little bit in love with the label and we hope you become fans, too.
Sad news this morning, we learned of this passing of the incredible Swedish songstress Doris.
Weâre so happy we got to reissue the 1970s classic âDid you give the world some love today babyâ. A favourite with our Head of Sync, Tracy she included the album in her Staff Picks :
âMy âpickâ is Swedish artist Dorisâ 1970âs album âDid You Give The World Some Love Today, Babyâ. Another gem for any discerning lover of all things 60s. She has an effortless, sassy and self-assured delivery with a big orchestra behind her. My track highlights are âBeatmakerâ with itâs big beats and attitude; the no nonsense defiance of âDonâtâ, and the softer title track that builds and builds. Just lovely.â
You really did give the world some love, Doris and you will be sadly missed x

As 2022 is soon coming to an end, we wanted to share with you our personal highlights from both new releases, as well as our wonderful Mr Bongo reissues!
2022 has been an amazing year for Mr Bongo. Weâve been lucky enough to have over 40 releases, including our critically acclaimed new signings ĐĄĐПР/ SOYUZ, who feature in Bandcampâs best album list and have had a lot of love from Gilles Peterson and Craig Charles, as well as Marxist Love Disco Ensemble being on heavy rotation across the network. We had Kenny Dope curating our all killer Brazil 45s Boxset and you may have heard Mr Bongo Boss, David Buttle having a good old natter with Craig Charles and Robert Elms talking everything Bongo.
Weâve had instores and events galore. One to remember was our summer instore with the incredible Luke Una, who has recently received Piccadilly Records âCompilation of the year 2022â for âLuke Una Presents: Ă Soul Culturaâ!
We also teamed up with the childrenâs smart speaker Yoto for our Ticket to Brazil, Ghana and Mali series opening up a world of music to children and adults alike. 2022 also marked the release of our Mr Bongo Record Club Volume 5.

Wishing you and yours a lovely Christmas and a 2023 thatâs one to remember đ
MĂłdulo 1000 recorded just one album, and they were not messing around with 'NĂŁo Fale Com Paredesâ. A raw, heavy, experimental, Brazilian psychedelic rock album, the uncompromising nature of the release led to this gem being lost to obscurity, only later to be rediscovered by a new audience at a different time.
Mr Bongo are happy to control Agency Master rights on this album.
âAcabou Chorareâ is the second album from Novos Baianos, who formed in Bahia, Brazil in the 1960s. Theyâre considered to be one of the most important and revolutionary groups in Brazilian music.
Mr Bongo celebrates 50 years of this incredible album. Originally released in 1972, this classic Brazilian Rock album is filled with plenty of Hidden Gems and is sure to take you straight to the scene of a samba party, with its joyful celebratory vibe, then switching to a more relaxed self-assured mode.
Warner Chappell control 100% publishing on all tracks. Mr Bongo control Agency Master on all tracks.

Calling all hip-hop connoisseurs and crate-diggers looking for inspiration, we've lovingly curated a selection of hidden gems from our back catalogue just waiting to be sampled. From the classic break in Foster Sylver's 'Misdemeanour' (1973) to the wonderfully obscure African disco of Kenyan Kiru Stars' 'Family Planning' (1985), the swagger of Tim Maia's 'E Necessario' (1977) and the pure joy of afrobeat joy of Nissodia by Idressa Soumaroro (1978) - we hope you dig them as much as we do.
It's a big soggy outside, so here are 10 festive favourites to make you feel all warm inside. From Madlib to Nerina Pallot, a golden oldie from the 50s, Piney Gir's festive cover, Josh Record tugging at the heartstrings and Sven Wunder adding his filmic calm - we hope this selection does the trick spread the festive love!
Available for sync now with mixed rights.
Fable âShameâ - Available for Sync now!
We are very excited to showcase the multi-faceted Brighton-hailed singer Fable as our latest addition to our Mr Bongo Boutique.
Fableâs debut album âShameâ has heavy influences spanning Billie Eilish, Amy Winehouse and Radiohead, Fable serves us a sumptuous genre blending record whilst also establishing her own sound. Her much anticipated debut album is genre-fluid, searingly honest and darkly beautiful music that spans from urgent post punk to introspective electronica, whilst posing questions that are both timely and personal, yet timeless.
Mr Bongo Boutique has Agency Master Rights and 50% Publishing Rights on all tracks.
Thirty years after its original release, Main Sourceâs debut album Breaking Atoms has lost none of its capacity to surprise or delight. It remains a prime example of a classically styled hip-hop LP.
We're very excited to represent the master rights and can confirm that all samples have been cleared for sync use.
What makes it so special? Perhaps itâs in the groupâs ear for a hook and sample, with Large Professor mounting a whole, celebrated career off the back of this gem. Perhaps itâs in the way he manages to balance bragging with more political, thematic tracks such as âJust a Friendly Game of Baseballâ and âPeace is not the Word to Playâ without ever coming across as preachy.

The unique sounds of Ray Phiri's Stimela are showcased on this gem from 1986. Our featured track for sync is magical from start to finish. âI Hate Telling A Lieâ is a slow, infectious building groove that sits somewhere between lowdown jazz-funk, soul, reggae and gospel with shades of new wave pop and Balearic. Itâs a truly stunning track that is hard to pigeonhole and all the better for it.Another highlight from the EP is the monster instrumental, synth-boogie sound of 'I Love You'; championed by DJs such as Jeremy Spellacey (Crown Ruler). This hypnotic groove bubbles to perfection and is a slo-mo chugger extraordinaire. The rest of the EP is a gold-mine for sync with more of that eclectic Balearic disco / cosmic boogie sound which is hard to come by. Mr Bongo represents all masters via agency for Stimelaâs Rewind and are now available for sync!
