Just enjoying a quick overnight camp in the Land Rover and playing with ham radio. No YouTube video for today, this campsite has lots of families with kids and stuff so I’m not doing any filming. Sitting here on this campsite in mow cop and so the visibility is fantastic and the radio takeoff is great.

My music is no way influenced by living under the threat of nuclear war twice in my life 🫤 Music is improvised using a government warning from the 1980’s, samples taken from my tape looping machine and also the bass from a synth. My first tape loop jam. I’ve spliced a loop of tape together and fed it around a metal flask, this loop allows me to records onto the tape and record sound on sound using a synth on my iPad. The tape machine is fed through the Roland Space echo with a little ham radio thrown in 😊

This old reel to reel came with some early 1970’s BBC radio recordings so I decided to live sample it and just have a mess about. I was meant to be fixing a mains hum on it.

For any nerdy electronic music folks, this is a walkthrough of my work in progress set up which I hope to use in a few weeks. The plan is to capture random loops of sound (synths and things) and manipulate these into rhythms and ambient beats etc. Well that’s the plan anyway, I’ll post some recordings over the next couple of weeks. #electronicmusic #modularsynth

Live looping on the Octatrack sampler then sending some of the loops out through two tape machine effects units. Hoping to play at the next EMOM night in February so I’m building an improvisation set up for jamming with live captured loops.
