Broken Britain Boris Johnson has brought Britain to its knees. He is a clown and he is turning this country into a circus.

Broken Britain was started to call out everything wrong with Johnson’s Britain. If you are pro-Europe and anti-corruption this page is for you!

First time I've had the motivation to write in a while, but the news from earlier is terrifying.

Everyone should be up in arms about this. This will be catastrophic for households and could plunge us into recession.

https://brokenbritain.co.uk/energy-prices-will-sink-britain

Energy prices are set to rise by an unprecedented 78% in October; this is catastrophic for Britain, so why are the government doing nothing?

Rishi Sunak's measures won't even cover the October price rise for the majority of households. But the worst thing is that he has absolutely no plan to address the root cause.

He is asleep at the wheel as we careen towards a cliff edge.

https://brokenbritain.co.uk/what-does-rishi-sunaks-policy-u-turn-mean

Rishi Sunak announced a package of measures today to address the cost of living crisis; but how will these impact you?

Ofgem have a public consultation open on the issue Martin Lewis raged about earlier. Don't miss your chance to respond!

Feels like it was written by energy companies, for energy companies. A farcry from it's goal of "protecting vulnerable consumers"!

https://brokenbritain.co.uk/ofgem-has-failed-the-governments-asleep-and-we-are-paying-for-it

Ofgem's latest consultation is open and it is bad news for consumers. Don't miss out on the chance to make your voice heard!

Those continuing to back Johnson have no right to call for anyone else to resign. Their hypocrisy is dangerous and disingenuous.

Starmer is far from perfect, but the "evidence" against him seems to be little more than a political hit job.

https://brokenbritain.co.uk/beergate-is-nothing-more-than-a-political-hit-job

is heating up, yet those calling for Starmer to go remain steadfast in their support of Johnson, how can they be taken seriously?

With Britain's economy in tatters, the damage of Brexit has never been clearer. With that in mind I've been thinking a lot about what rejoining the EU, or even the Single Market, looks like.

What do you think? Is there a path that I'm missing?

https://brokenbritain.co.uk/brexit-is-exposed-but-what-is-the-route-to-rejoin-europe

Polling is starting to show clear appetite for the UK to rejoin the EU, but what might that entail in reality? And what are the pitfalls?

Between Tweets professing their Christian faith, Tory MPs are rounding on the Archbishops of York & Canterbury for criticising the Rwanda plan. And this isn't the first time the Tories have told their critics to keep out of politics.

My read is that they are as disgusted as we are when confronted with the hypocrisy of their own actions, but can't bring themselves to admit it.

Any other examples that I've missed?

https://brokenbritain.co.uk/why-do-conservatives-keep-telling-people-to-stay-out-of-politics

Why do Conservative MPs keep telling people to stay out of politics? This Easter they've ganged up on the Archbishops of York and Canterbury.

Without a doubt the most evil policy I've seen from a British government. This typifies the banality of evil.

But will it go ahead? I suspect that Johnson has more to gain from it being blocked in the courts.

https://brokenbritain.co.uk/rwanda-plan-cruel-stupid-and-pointless-or-just-a-distraction

Boris Johnson's Rwanda Plan is like something from the pages of Mein Kampf; but is he really planning to send refugees to Rwanda?

What do we think the chances are that Boris Johnson will do the right thing and step down? That he will hold himself to the same standard he has held his employees?

Personally, I think there's more chance of hell freezing over.

https://brokenbritain.co.uk/now-is-the-time-for-johnson-to-resign

Boris Johnson has been fine for breaking lockdown rules. Given he has forced others to resign, will he hold himself to the same standard?

Been a little unwell recently but finally written my thoughts on Sunak. He is the one trying to make this about his wife.

It's not about her. It's about the the staggering conflict of interest and awful decisions that plunged this country into crisis.

https://brokenbritain.co.uk/rishi-sunak-has-made-this-about-his-wife-but-he-caused-this-mess

Rishi Sunak is the only one who is throwing his wife under the bus. He is the Chancellor. He made the decisions. It's time for him to go.

Selling Channel 4 is vindictive, petty and pointless.

It'll block up parliament at a time when they should be stopping people from starving to death.

Worse, it's only going to make £1b. That's 1/4 of what Sunak wrote off in fraud losses!

https://brokenbritain.co.uk/selling-off-channel-4-is-cultural-vandalism

Selling Channel 4 is one of the most idiotic, petty and unnecessary policy decisions in recent years; why am I surprised?

Thought I'd change pace a little and go back to the decrepit nature of our unwritten constitution.

Specifically, the Speaker of the House! What do you think about Sir Lindsay Hoyle? How does he measure up to Bercow?

Sir Lindsay Hoyle has been criticised a lot recently for failing to hold Britain's biggest liar to account; what could he do differently?

Have been writing this one since reading about the Child Q case. The institutional issues within the police are deeply troubling.

Interested in your thoughts - do you think that they can restore public trust?

Rishi Sunak has a lot to answer for. His policy decisions, either through staggering incompetence or venal self-interest, are destroying the lives of the poorest in today's society.

Over on twitter is trying to organise a protest. Apparently, this had great effect in Spain. The idea is that everyone turns off all power at 10pm on 10th April for 10 minutes. This causes huge disruption for the energy companies. I'm very much up for giving it a go - what are you thoughts?

£50?! Is this an April Fools joke? They fined students ten grand!

I also find it highly amusing that those calling for Kay Burley to resign 2 years ago, are now calling her out for exposing law breaking. Apparently news presenters are held to higher standards than the PM.

It's a disgrace that Johnson has reacted to the police fining his colleagues by... throwing a party. It's the tactic of a troll.

He's trying to get back to the days when everyone thought he was a bit of a laugh. The man needs to grow up.

My prediction on the fines! The cynic in me is expecting a stitch up. But there is a scenario where Johnson doesn't get fined this time round, calls for resignations and then gets fined at a future date. Interesting times!

If Brexit has been the catalyst for corruption, First Past the Post has been the enabler. On both sides of the Atlantic, this system has enabled corruption to infect critical institutions.

For years I defended FPTP as a way to keep out extremists. In practice, it has enabled them. What do you think? Is it time for it to go?

https://brokenbritain.co.uk/its-time-for-first-past-the-post-to-go

First Past the Post has polluted British politics. As Britain faces an increasingly authoritarian government, what are the alternatives?

The P&O Ferries situation is awful. It's also staggeringly stupid.

In a bid to "save money" they are now paying two workforces, unable to run any ferries, facing a PR nightmare and legal action. Callous and unnecessary.

https://brokenbritain.co.uk/have-po-ferries-scored-the-biggest-own-goal-in-history

P&O Ferries have suffered a conga line of humiliation. As the controversy heats up we ask, is this the biggest corporate own goal in history?

This mini-budget is pretty dire. Does very little to actually help.

Sunak calling this the "biggest ever tax cut" when the tax burden is at a 70 year high is, frankly, gas-lighting. It's devastating to think about the impact this is going to have.

https://brokenbritain.co.uk/2022-mini-budget-stop-the-slogans-and-do-something

Rishi Sunak announced a range of tax cuts in today's mini-budget, but what is the impact of this in the real world?

Nazanin is an inspiration. She deserves to be treated as a hero, not attacked. I don’t imagine I’d be half as strong after such an ordeal.

I find it absolutely staggering that anyone could attack a woman who has been held hostage for six years. Her calm, measured response has shown astonishing restraint.

The trolls are sickening. They deserve nothing but contempt.

Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe has found herself under fire from internet trolls today for calling out the government's lack of action
