A record-breaking forty-page edition will be out by Thursday lunchtime. Inside we begin to mine the old archive of The Thackley Trumpit starting way back in December 2000. Don’t be surprised to discover much has not changed; we still moan about the same stuff as ever! Nowt changes? You can also find the original copies posted on the website and these will be added to over time to complete the full set; it is a fascinating mini-history of local life.
We have another guest article from our London star Auburn Em plus a wide range of articles from book reviews to a view on the new government from a youthful perspective and all the regulars too.
Thank you to advertisers, contributors and readers alike for making this monster issue.
Finally, please note the deadline for September is August 20th.

A message from locally run charity The Gambian School's Trust.

Hello all
Our Annual Garden Party will be held on 31st August this year.
The address is 12 Briarfield Avenue, BD10 8QR 10am to 5pm
Hopefully we will have better weather than last year when all our brave attendees got wet.
The usual choice of sandwiches, quiche and cakes will be available, tea, coffee, soft drink or even Prosecco!!
All donations of cakes or tombola prizes are gratefully accepted.

Sadly we lost a great bloke only recently - here is an edited version of a piece I wrote a few years ago about Sunday morning football and many irreplaceable characters including the incomparable Geoff Potter.

As another sad footnote, Giant - as most will know - was Ray Winterbourne who also passed away last week aged 81.

Two wonderful blokes to play the beautiful game with as a young lad.

This is my modest tribute to a wonderful bloke who we lost recently. Known to so many for not just his sporting prowess but also his unfailing wit and great company; we shall all miss you Geoff.

Coming soon the entire archive from the Trumpit's dusty cellars. Dating back to December 2000 some 200 plus editions will be archived on the website.
A unique look back at local "history" with some characters long remembered.
So far 109 copies scanned with about the same to go...some great old tales told inimitably by Bill & Bloss plus a cast of many.
And each edition of The Trumpit - out soon - will feature snippets from the archive.

St John’s School for the Deaf is a day and boarding school in Boston Spa for hearing impaired pupils from all over the country. Some pupils have special needs in addition to deafness such as visual and physical impairments, dyslexia, dyspraxia, autism and ADHD.
