Things are changing in this little corner of these squares.

This will be my last post on here for a while - perhaps forever! I'm pausing Sharpe Social.

I've loved every minute of running this biz for the last 6 years. I've met some wonderful people on these squares, in memberships and IRL. It's got me through moving to a new area, and a global pandemic and I"ll be forever grateful.

I need to get something off my chest. Something that's been building up over the last few weeks. I've been having a few conversations around value recently. Yes, I'm an expense for a business owner and that's why I offer various ways of working with me. For some of those, you can outsource everything (the more expensive packages) or I offer packages where I can pass on some of my knowledge about social media marketing and Facebook ads management BUT in order to optimise that you have to put in some of the work.

I also gained a tonne of knowledge and experience from my 20 years in direct marketing for big brands like The Guardian and The Economist. I've since worked with social media and ads for the last 7 years.

So no, you don't have to "sell your firstborn" in order to work with someone to look after your social media. I provide a valuable service and one that is worth paying for. There has to be a value exchange as with any service you subscribe to. And my services are no different.

Facebook Ads don't always generate an immediate return on investment and an immediate influx of £££.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
They should be used as part of your marketing mix and have a clear objective about what they're contributing to that mix. They can bring awareness of your business to a cold audience, drive traffic to your website that you can retarget another time, generate leads to build your email list or more for eCommerce brands to generate sales.

Think about your business and what areas you need to focus on / build and there'll be a way for Facebook Ads to support this.

I've been busy keeping on top of client work, enjoying a mini-break with friends and now I'm busy into getting prepared for the summer holidays. There'll be here before we know it. Then just on the other side of them, we roll straight into the run-up to Christmas.

I had the pleasure of attending and covering the inaugural awards last week. This was before any guests arrived but every now and then I would position myself at the side of the room with my 📱to share some content or make sure I was capturing what I needed.

Was great to meet the team I've been working with since January and meet some of the participants of the awards. 2022 has been the year of recovery for the travel industry and it's been fun being part of the team to support the industry to ensure they are looking after their employees.

Think about it. How many times have you started a purchase on your phone and then abruptly stopped? The doorbell goes, a child needs something or the kettle boils. You put your phone down mid-decision-making or mid-purchase.

As a business, you need to be capturing these warm leads and making yourself known to these people as a reminder of the purchase they were about to make.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You can do this through email marketing, posting regularly to social and Facebook ads retargeting. They can be set up and automated so they can do the work for you.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Think about offers for this warm audience too. I recently was after something and hadn't gotten around to purchasing it but was sent an email with 25% off for the bank holiday weekend. Before I knew it I was making the purchase. The offer was what pushed me over the line to buy. Every touchpoint matters.

Before you decide to invest in Facebook Ads. You need to do your sums.

Two key questions are:
- how much can you afford to spend per day?
- how much can you invest per result?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You need to have a budget of at least (the very least) £20 per day. You also need to be aware of how much you're willing to spend to acquire a customer. They don't come for free. But you need to think about the value of how much 1 customer spends with you. It could be for a one-off big budget purchase or it could be a product that provides repeat purchases.

As a business owner, you should be aware of your CPA (cost per acquisition) and this will inform how much you need to invest in Facebook Ads.
