Starting a business in 2022...
When the pandemic is over, what is the world going to look like? Many things have pretty much returned to normal here in the UK, but some things are never going back to the way they were – going back to the office, for example – for business in 2022.
A lot of businesses are happy for their staff to continue working from home, and some businesses are making it mandatory. Not everyone is happy with that, my friend included, but sadly there is not much they can do.
That being said, some people are looking to start their own business now the landscape has changed. If that sounds like you, then what businesses are a good idea for 2022? Let’s take a look.
Online selling
If the restrictions put in place due to the pandemic have taught us anything, it’s that online shopping is the daddy. Many bricks and mortar businesses, bars included, transitioned to selling online to stay in business.
According to the United Nations, global e-commerce spiked last May to $26.7 trillion. A great thing about selling online is that there is no risk of market saturation – provided you have the right product, of course.
Many things can be bought in bulk, for an average of a quarter the price, and stored easily (depending on the item). This provides ample opportunity – the only question is, can you find the right product to sell?
Start a travel agency business in 2022
Travel ground to a dramatic halt when the pandemic hit us, but with travel restrictions being eased and destinations opening their doors again, now is a great time for an independent travel agency to pop up to begin doing business in 2022.
This is especially attractive for somebody that is relatively well travelled. Think of travel destinations that you have already visited (prior knowledge is always going to help). Research these and some affordable tours that follow any safety guidelines. With a bit of clever marketing and special offers, you will have bookings in no time.
Launch a bakery business from your kitchen in 2022
If there is one thing that people are never going to stop buying, it’s food. Everyone needs food, it’s kind of essential, and everyone loves and appreciates fresh food.
Fresh baked goods that are just a little bit different (maybe gran left you some of her recipes) are very attractive too. Pricing can be tricky though since baking in small amounts can yield lower returns than baking in bulk. Because of this, the temptation to raise prices can be quite strong. Tasty goods, at the right price, can be profitable in the long run.
Remote teaching or tutoring
If you have a particular talent or strong point (excellent at maths, can play the guitar
well etc.) then tutoring can be a viable income option. Many parents that are still nervous about sending their kids to school would be grateful for the tutoring option. Just about any lesson can be taught online, and it doesn’t have to be curriculum lessons. If you are particularly good at something, there will always be someone that wants to learn it for themselves.
You don’t need to join an agency ( such as Tutors for Life), but they can help get you started.
Get started today and get a jump on 2022
These are just a few ideas for starting a business in 2022, there are hundreds of more things that you could do. One thing to keep in mind, no matter what business you decide on, is that you need to provide/sell something that people want.
Create something that you are proud of and good luck with your business in 2022!
