Plymouth Hoe on Saturday 25 June, to celebrate Armed Forces Day!

Plymouth Armed Forces Day will be returning on Saturday 25 June 2022, with an exciting day for all the family to enjoy, and celebrate our military and all the great work they do.

Armed Forces Day is a fantastic opportunity for everyone to come along and show their support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community from currently serving troops to reservists, veterans, cadets and their families.

Something for everyone

​The whole family will have a great day out at Plymouth Armed Forces Day, in association with Babcock, on Saturday 25 June. Head to Plymouth Hoe for a day filled with excitement and fun, all for free.

​Starting at 9.10am with an RAF and Allied Forces memorial service, Armed Forces Day will officially open at 10am and run until 10.30pm, with plenty of activities, displays, parades and live music to enjoy.

Support the Forces​

There will be activities for all the family to enjoy and get involved in, from exploring military vehicles, weapons displays and equipment, to tackling the Royal Marine’s obstacle course, or the Army’s climbing wall. Explore the dynamic displays in the Royal Navy Village, and chat with the RAF recruitment team to learn more about the wide range of careers on offer, from Aircrew to Chef!

​Members of the Fire Service, Devon and Cornwall Police, Coastguard Rescue Service and Dartmoor Search and Rescue will also be there on the day.

​The Veterans Village will include a wide range of charities and organisations, each offering information, advice and support

Until the Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022!

1. 72 nations and territories are planning to send teams to the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games

2. Around 6,500 athletes and team officials will be coming to Birmingham for the Games

3. There are 19 sports and eight Para sports that will feature making it the biggest sports programme ever for a Commonwealth Games

4. Women’s cricket will be included for the first time, and it is the first time that T20 cricket has ever been included in the Commonwealth Games

5. Although the full court, five aside version of basketball has been included before, this will be the first time basketball 3x3 has featured

6. Wheelchair basketball 3x3 has also been included in the Games for the very first time

7. The addition of wheelchair basketball means there will be more Para sport than ever before

8. At the Commonwealth Games, Para sport is integrated into the sports programme, so if you have tickets for sports like swimming or athletics you will get to see Para athletics and Para swimming too

9. For the first time ever mixed synchronised diving has been included in the Commonwealth Games

10. Beach volleyball will be taking place for only the second time at the Commonwealth Games and this sport was added to the Birmingham 2022 sports programme in August 2019
