This isn’t our first time working with Louis. His debut track, Southbank Rhythms, released back in April 2024. A debut success and quickly became a massive label favourite. His ability to seamlessly blend groovy, intricate drum patterns with outlandish basslines has solidified him as one of our top artists on the label.

Our story...

What started as a dream for three DJ’s, became a reality when they met through the same passion for Drum and Bass.

Josh (Severed), Reece (Corrupted Mind) and James (Illusive) quickly developed a strong friendship and began proposing ideas for creating a brand. These ideas soon became plans for a record label. After months and months of discussions, planning and learning, they only needed one more piece for the puzzle. A name.

Reece and James wanted something simple but effective, eye catching almost. Something that would fit in with the greats. This is when Josh stepped in. From his weird obsession with the unnatural, ancient dynasties and tales of lost islands and fortunes, he proposed Yamatai. A mysterious island from Japanese legend ruled by Himiko, an ancient queen of sheer power and disaster.

Yamatai Records was born.
