What Is A Community Magazine?
If you are wondering the photo is of Riddian Bridge on the Daw End branch of the Wyrley & Essington Canal near Walsall. Normally you would find this information hidden at the bottom of a post, but we like to be honest and upfront in all that we do!
We publish three community magazines. The Pioneer Magazine Walsall & Great Barr Edition, The Pioneer Magazine Villages Edition (covering Aldridge, Brownhills, Clayhanger, Pelsall, Stonnall, Streetly, Shire Oak and Walsall Wood), and the Great Barr Gazette.
We launched our first magazine in 2005 and have gone from strength to strength, now delivering our printed magazines free of charge to 48,000 homes and public places every two months. The Pioneer Magazines and Great Barr Gazette are well regarded as the “go-to” place for local information by local people and we have a waiting list for advertisers in some categories owing to the return on investment we offer them.
Our staff and editor are all local people and it was our editor that first had the idea to produce a community magazine. The reason was simply because she didn’t know where to look for local information.
Our advertisers are very important to us, because with their support we are able to promote, free of charge, the work of local community groups, local charities and the work of local schools and local people who are doing great things that benefit everyone in our community.
We do hope you will share all that you think is good about your local area on our page.
