RREC - The International Club for Rolls-Royce & Bentley Enthusiasts

RREC - The International Club for Rolls-Royce & Bentley Enthusiasts The international Club for Rolls-Royce & Bentley enthusiasts, whether you are an owner or not.

The Rolls-Royce Enthusiasts’ Club (RREC) caters for anyone with an interest in the motor car products of Rolls-Royce, including Bentley cars built from 1933 onwards. From just 11 people at the inaugural meeting in 1957, membership now stands at 10,000. Membership is open to owners and non-owners alike and members are drawn from all walks of life and from most countries of the world. With a justifi

able reputation for friendliness and informality, membership of the RREC enables like-minded enthusiasts to meet and share experiences, advice and the enjoyment of some of the finest vehicles in the world. To this end, there are forty regional Sections, UK and Overseas, and eight Registers, catering for specific groups of models from Silver Ghost to Silver Shadow

Each member receives a fully illustrated bi-monthly 68-page ‘Bulletin’ magazine covering historical and technical articles, as well as all aspects of the Club’s activities, together with the monthly ‘Advertiser’ which offers a fine cross-section of cars for sale. There is also a wealth of informative material to be found on the “members only” area of this website, which incorporates a members’ discussion forum. The Club enjoys a formal license from Rolls-Royce plc and also benefits from recognition by, and a close working relationship with, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Limited and Bentley Motors Limited.

At the beginning of December, the Yorkshire Section held its Christmas lunch at Rogerthorpe Manor, Pontefract.

As usual, there was a competition for the 'best Christmas hat', which was won by Liz Brown. Many Members also came dressed in festive outfits, adding to the fun of the day.

On the 8th of December, the RREC Surrey Section held its annual Christmas Charity lunch at the Kingswood Country Golf Club.

This year, 132 Section Members, family and friends attend the lunch, which included ambient Christmas music from resident musicians Sarah & Ian of Smooth Groves, and magician Leon Simmonds.

Representatives of the Brain Tumour Charity, Mr & Mrs Graham & Berrie Norton, also spoke about the vital work done by the charity on collecting money for the scientific community to conduct vital research on prevention and treatment of brain tumours. They also provide a vital hands-on home support for the patients and their families from diagnosis to the end-of-life care support.

The pinnacle of the day was the raffle, which included fabulous prizes such as day trips on a fully-staffed yacht, Christmas cakes and garden furniture. This helped the Section raise a total of £17,000 for charity, £15,800 of which was for the Brain Turmour Charity, a truly fantastic amount.

Many thanks to Section Chairman, Art Ramirez, for sharing this wonderful report and photos with us.

Last week, to celebrate the publication of the Club's annual Yearbook: 120 Years of Rolls-Royce, many of our Club Members attended the Book Launch event.

Taking place at the Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane, London, attendees were treated to an evening of luxury. On display was a magnificent 1936 25/30 car showcased by Club Member Nigel Sandell, and we heard some fascinating speeches which included journalist Ray Massey, who contributed articles to the Yearbook. Also available to Club Members was an array of superb international businesses sharing their fabulous products which are featured in the book.

Our CEO, Claire Seymour was honoured to accept the Yearbook on the Club's behalf, photographed here with Craig Vye, Chief Operating Officer at St James's House.

We are extremely grateful to our hosts and partners St James's House for creating another splendid evening for our Club Members.

Featured in the most recent copy of the Club magazine is this stunning 1924 Silver Ghost, known as 'The Kenya Ghost'.

Owned by Club Member Bryan Stringer, the car's history is absolutely fascinating, having spent time in its early life under the ownership of Captain Archie Ritchie, a Chief Kenya Game Warden in Nairobi.

Those who attended this year's Salon Prive will also remember the car's attendance at the Blenheim Palace show in September (and its subsequent appearence on the cover of the October edition of Spirit & Speed).

Bryan has shared with us a full potted history of the car, which can be found on pp34-39 in the latest copy of Spirit & Speed.

Thanks so much to Bryan for compiling this article in time for the car's 100th birthday - a fitting tribute to this amazing vehicle - and for sharing these photos with us.

It was another fantastic event in the Club calendar, and we are already looking forward to 2025's show.

Our thanks to Nicolas Audebaud for allowing us to share his fabulous photos.

to the 20hp Rally to Perros Guirec, Brittany, France in June 2024.

Based in the Hotel L'Agapa, 45 Members attended in 23 stunning cars. Excursions included to the Jardins de Kerdalo, Port Blanc and Treguier, and one particularly memorable moment happened when a fellow guest at the hotel approached the group and asked if one of the Rolls-Royces could be used to take their son and his bride-to-be to their wedding. Simon Slaffer willingly stepped forward.

A full report of this fabulous tour can be found in the most recent copy of Spirit & Speed.

Our thanks to Tom Jones, 20h0 Registrar, for sharing these photos with us.

On 3 November, 33 Members took their treasured Rolls-Royce and Bentley cars to the DaHavilland Museum in Hertfordshire, which displays some of the oldest airplanes from both World Wars. Members enjoyed a tour and refreshments, and were thrilled to see some very famous planes, including the one that Amy Johnson and her husband flew in a race to Baghdad.

Club cars were able to park on the hard standing in front of one of the Mosquitos, which delighted everyone.

Thanks to Tony O'Brart for sharing this with us.
