Why not take a break from the rain at the Porter Press stand (17) in the Marketplace? The perfect place to browse. Here's hoping for some drier weather for the rest of the weekend.

It's hard to believe August marks 10 years since we published Jaguar Lightweight E-type - The Autobiography of 4 WPD, the first in our Great Cars Series. Since then the series – and Porter Press itself – has developed and grown in an extraordinary way, and we are immensely privileged to have worked, and continue to work with, such an inspiring team of authors, editors, designers and photographers over the years. Not to mention the amazing opportunity to get up close and personal with some truly important cars. Find out more about the Great Cars series via our website – link in comments.
One of our quirkiest titles came up in conversation this week – JCB Scrapbook. Written by outstanding author, editor designer and photographer, Martin Port, this is quite simply a wonderful celebration of one of Great Britain’s greatest engineering names.

From Philip Porter: "We have received the Brawn BGP1 book proofs and I am seriously excited. I know I use that word too often but it is entirely genuine. The highly respected motorsport author David Tremayne has done a marvellous job, aided by access to previously unseen archive material and key figures including Jenson Button, Nick Fry and Ross Brawn himself. The cocktail of a superb story, stunning photography and Martin Port’s design work have combined to create a fantastic book. If there is any justice, this one will fly."

Hear all about the inspiration behind it, his experiences as a four-time official event photographer and the exhaustive research that went into the project.

The air around Wimbledon will soon be resonating with the gentle thwack of tennis balls on racket strings, and the muted cries of “Let,” and “Second Service,” as the AELTC Championship starts for the 150th time at the Church Road site. While we at Porter Press are known primarily for our motoring and motorsport titles, we do, on occasion, publish books of a different flavour, but always ones whose subjects complement our usual style and ethos. Which is the perfect opportunity to revisit a title that explores a different kind of drive: 'Shot Master - Forty Years at the Pinnacle of Professional Tennis Photography' by Michael Cole is a distillation of a vast collection of fantastic images, beginning in 1969 and encompassing all the major tournaments and players. So if you would like to take a moment to hark back to the days when the sounds of Wimbledon included the not-so-gentle cries of “You cannot be serious!” this treasure trove of photographic tennis history will not disappoint. Now this is a special edition in a class of its own. The Heritage Edition of the Austin Pedal Car Story surely qualifies as a work of art, created in collaboration with Ludlow Bookbinders. Here Philip and Paul discuss the details.
Further discussions on the art of book-binding. Philip Porter and Paul Kidson of Ludlow Bookbinders take a look at the special edition of a very different book, Camel Trophy – The Definitive History.

More 'behind-the-scenes' chat as Philip Porter and Paul Kidson (Ludlow Bookbinders) discuss the special editions of two more, very different, books. Vanwall – The Story of Britain’s First Formula One World Champions and BRM – Racing for Britain (The Jackie Stewart edition).
Philip Porter attended the 14th Monaco Historic Grand Prix earlier this month and, as ever, the surroundings, atmosphere and track action were superb.
Our next title is now available for pre-order. 'Subaru Impreza WRC – The Autobiography of P8 WRC' is number 17 in the Great Cars series, and is hotly anticipated. Keep up to date on this and other upcoming titles by subscribing to our bimonthly newsletter. For now, here's a little sneak peek.
Always a pleasure to catch up with author Mark Cole, and at the Goodwood Members' Meeting we were lucky enough to get his thoughts on the upcoming 'Ultimate GT40' titles.
Thrilled that our book on the distinctive Ferrari Uovo has been so well received, with latest reviews including: 'Another Superb Book From The Pros At Porter!' 'It is a delightful volume and is most welcome among our motor-oriented books.' If you haven't already seen it, here's a little look inside...
We are always very proud of our special editions, which are beautifully created by Paul Kidson and his team at Ludlow Bookbinders. Philip recently visited Paul to discuss the intricacies of the designs and binding techniques. First under the spotlight is Ferrari Breadvan.
Philip visited Ludlow Bookbinders last week with our Austin Pedal Cars client. He was there specifically to see the amazing Heritage Edition being completed. One of our most sublime books yet, this edition is very special, as hopefully this video shows.
Jaguar Portfolio.mp4
The Jaguar marque is one of the most influential and admired in the world with many of its models and, indeed, individual cars meriting the term 'iconic'. Hardly surprising then, that as publishers of books on very special marques, models and personalities, our Jaguar portfolio should be pleasingly expansive.

Jaguar SS 100 page turner.mp4
Also launching at the Goodwood Revival we have "SS Jaguar 100 – The remarkable history of 18008," the latest in our Exceptional Cars series. Stylish and somewhat rakish, 'Old Number 8' proved a landmark model for the company that would evolve into Jaguar. As the first true performance car to wear the Jaguar name, it soon attracted the attention of drivers who recognised its competition potential – and chassis number 18008 would become the most famous SS100 of all. Freshly arrived and available to order here: https://buff.ly/45lEqLO
