Do you remember that time when video became a ‘thing’ on social media and over night we all had to turn into videographers and think about B roll footage, overlay text, editing, captions and audio 🥵
I recently recorded episode 12 of my co-hosted podcast A Measure of Marketing. Hayley from @maiseymarketing and I invited on Josh from @jpenlingtonmedia to talk all things Video Content Creation.
What I loved about the conversation was Josh’s flex to support small business owners to create their own content and then his ease and values as he leads a video production shoot with his clients.
My favourite part - He has marketing strategy in mind. The purpose behind the content. The ‘what next’ once it’s produced. He’s focused on end to end support.
Check out the full episode. Link in Bio.
And contact Josh for any advice when creating reels or DIY videos. You’ll love him. Total legend.

Energy matters when you create content for your business.
You want to be in the best energy possible when you create content for your business. You may need to be flexible with your schedule because we don’t feel energised every day.
But when you feel good …. Batch create. It doesn’t matter if you post them on days you feel off - because the energy will still be felt by your audience.
I believe energy is soaked into your content when you make it and it’ll fly out of it no matter when it’s posted - even years from now.
Following this will make you more inclined to be aware of your energy on certain days and ask yourself why you’re not feeling top notch.
In my membership - Brand Brilliance in Abundance - we work on mindset and frequency along with developing you in marketing.
Want to chat more about this? DM me. Id love to have the conversation with you.

Creating visibility for your business is rewarding but takes a lot of energy when marketing doesn’t feel easy
Brand and Marketing can feel complex and time-consuming when your speciality is the service you offer. You want and need to focus on delivering that.
There is a lot of advice out there. Trends and hacks. Lots of platforms to use.
Sometimes you just need a single person to link arms with, someone who understands the depth of you and your business, someone who will take you down the easier path.
I’ve spent 16 years in the brand and marketing industry. I am a lifelong learner and I love psychology too.
I spend time understanding myself, my gaps in development, where my perspective is sitting today, what blocks my actions from going after my vision.
Not only will my marketing mentoring membership develop your marketing skills to turn you into a fully rounded business owner, you’ll also take away learnings to build your mindset so your marketing actions are aligned to your vision.
Are you ready to develop yourself and your business?
I will mentor you to not only understand the reasons why you’re hitting blockers with your marketing, I’ll also be your accountability partner each week to keep you on the path to your vision ensuring you’re taking the actions you need to achieve what you want in your business.
We’ll be working from a place of positivity and confidence because you already have everything within you to achieve what you want.
From social media best practices to creating graphics, marketing strategy, implementing efficient systems, we’ll work from the top right down to the detail of your business plan.
You’ll have contact time with me during the month and specific training sessions based on your own development plan.
How does that sound? 🖤

Is your brand becoming inconsistent??? 🚨
@maiseymarketing and I recently discussed the importance of brand consistency on our podcast - A Measure of Marketing. Episode 8 is available now!!!
What did we chat about?
⤵
One of the key takeaways was the creation and the use of Brand Guidelines.
Doing the deep work to log down your brand mission, vision, purpose. Your tone of voice, your colour hex codes, fonts. Right through to your brand personality, how your logos will be displayed in varying scenarios.
I personally created my own at the start of my solo business journey and use them at least every week.
If you’re a small team, they are even more important.
For instance, if months down the line, there’s a suggestion to change the logo because someone likes the colour purple 🤣 (Because let’s not forget how easy it is to go skew-wiff when that to-do list is huge and your mind is busy), you can refer back to the guidelines to stay onboard of YOUR brands original path.
Brand Guidelines help ensure that any changes align with your established goals and brand integrity is maintained for years to come.
Tune in to learn more about maintaining brand consistency and why it’s crucial for your business.
Links in Bio - or DM me and I’ll send it on personally.

The basics marketing steps to create visibility for your small business are :
• a quality designed website - that’s designed for your audience not for you. The backend needs to be spot on too. Simple. Clean.
• and then understanding the words that your customer use to find a service like yours. For me, you might not use ‘marketing consultant’, you might google ‘marketing support for small businesses’. This step is important because it influences your website content and your social content too.
• choose one lead social media channel, maybe two. And posts as frequently as you can. Using them keywords and phrases - add value and support your audience to learn.
• and get out there and network. Meet new people. Do it in groups and find individuals you want to learn more about - invite them for a coffee ☕️
What else would you add to this basics list?

Struggling to post on social media because you’re overwhelmed? We’ve all got loads to talk about but sometimes we pause, frozen, because we don’t know where to start.
Let’s keep it simple.
Firstly, remember that your audience are at varying stages of buying. Some know you well. Some have no clue who you are. Some know what you offer. Some don’t know they even have a problem.
So break down your content to reach all of these people.
1 post a week - who you are and what you do. Very broad. Help people get to know you.
2 share more about your service(s) and give some examples of how you help people. Pull out a problem you’ve solved for a customer.
3 share a detailed story about a customer and their full transformation story. What did you do to aid this movement. Be super confident in your work.
4 promote something you offer. Select one service and tell people why they need this.
5 share something about you as a person. Why you do what you do. What you love about life. Your beliefs and values.
Remember, marketing is repetition. Don’t be afraid to repeat the same message but switch up the style.
DM me for extra support. I create social media strategies and content planners for small business owners all the time 🖤
Much love ###

Who's in the Strategy and Copy First Camp? 🙋♀️
We are!
Hayley Maisey (owner of Maisey Marketing), Beth Rawlins (owner of Pie Heart Studios), and I recently discussed this on episode 7 of the A Measure of Marketing podcast, focusing on website design for small business owners. Beth shared her approach, which resonates deeply:
1. Strategy First: What's the focus? What's the goal?
2. Website User Journey and Navigation
3. Branding and Visual Identity
4. Copywriting
Beth designs the website **after** these steps. This method can be applied to many marketing aspects:
- Strategy: Always prioritise it.
- Customer Experience: Central to execution.
- Brand Consistency: Regular audits.
- Messaging: Crucial for success.
As Beth rightly said, and I echo 'If you miss one out, you're not going to see the Return on Investment your need. You'll have invested a load of money (and time) and you're not going to be happy with the end result'.
How much time and attention are you putting into upfront work before executing any marketing strategy?
#MarketingStrategy #PerformanceMarketing #CopyFirstCamp
My top pieces of marketing advice for any business owner and I’ll always preach these in my services even after 16 years of brand and marketing experience.
1. Understanding and go back to your brand mission, purpose and values. Start here when you’re starting out. Keep coming back to here even when you’re spending time on your social media content as an existing business. These are the reasons you’re doing what you’re doing.
2. Spend time thinking about and defining who your target audience is and how YOU are going to HELP them. Again, a task that needs to be repeated daily.
3. Always invest the time to listen and observe your customers because …
4. This helps to deepens your message so your business can grow…
5. Doing this also creates your content. It’s already out there. As long as you pause and observe.
6. Drive all your traffic to your website. A quality working simple clear website should be your hub and your shopfront.
7. Do just one social media platform really really well. Don’t try and do them all and do them poorly.

Our podcast has stepped up a notch! Hayley and I introduced our first guest to A Measure of Marketing podcast! The wonderfully talented and cool Beth Rawlins joined us for episode 7 🖤
We chatted about Beth's speciality - Website redesigns.
Some key take aways - Listen to this clip too, Beth couldn't be more accurate:
- When you're starting out in business, keep your website simple
- The best websites are constantly evolving and will grow alongside your business
- You own your website domain, you don't own your social media channels
- Online presence through a website is a big credibility boost for your business
- When you're working on your own website, you're IN IT, and it can be really hard to take a step back and see the customer journey clearly (I've been there).
Beth redesigns your website from scratch. She redesigned mine and we worked on my vision together. She gave my website a strategic pathway. One that I am 100% confident in, and love.
I couldn't recommend her enough.
Listen to our conversation on YouTube or Spotify. I'm also confident it will give you some food for thought 🖤

When you’re recording a podcast and you realise you don’t take any of your own advice 😖🫣
Just kidding. Of course we do @maiseymarketing 😉
I always enjoy our podcast recordings. It’s helpful talking things over especially when we use LinkedIn to generate clients and it’s a huge part of our own marketing strategy.
In episode 6 we not only talk about how we personally post, we talk about what we know works and what doesn’t work and how we approach the channel strategically.
Considering the algorithm chat, this reel might do so well on here 😆 but if you see this video and want to learn more about LinkedIn, visit my bio and my podcast link.
You’ll need to take notes for this one 🖋️ Enjoy.
