Seriously, so many people right now are posting these awesome products or services with a single line on how great they are - but I have no idea how to buy!

Your customers don't want to ask - they'll look stupid. They'll check the comments, nope nothing there either.. so they scroll on and forget how fantastic your offering was.

❌ You just lost that sale ❌.

Next time you post that fantastic product, service, or offer, tell us how to buy!

Do we go to your website, send a private message, email, booking link, carrier pigeon?

Don't lose sales assuming people know your systems, make it clear how to order/book.

Here's a little update from me:

I'm updating my business and services.

I’ve recently partnered with a talented graphic designer to help me streamline everyday tasks. This means I’ll soon be able to help more of you at once! 🎉

Small businesses need specialist support right from the start to have the best chance of success.

Many entrepreneurs are bursting with ideas and innovation, but being self-employed is complicated. We all know how difficult completing self-assessment forms can be (and avoiding costly mistakes) along with attempting to gain access to HMRC.
Then there's premises, applying for grants, protecting your business name, deciding if you need a website, and how the hell do you even start telling your customers you exist? These examples are just the tip of the iceberg but very few businesses have budgets for this specialist advice and support from day one.

For some, the challenges run even deeper. If you have additional learning needs or are neurodivergent, trying to make sense of systems that aren’t designed with you in mind can feel like a continuous uphill battle.

Last night, I had the chance to stand in front of some seriously influential people and share what I believe small businesses truly need: more accessible, specialised support right from day one. Not just a helping hand to get started, but continued guidance as they grow, scale, and create local jobs.

I also spoke about my concerns for the high street. Watching more and more shops close is heartbreaking, but I believe we can still fix it. With accessible business and marketing support and united business communities - along with affordable building rental schemes, we could give our high streets a fighting chance to weather the financial storm we’re all facing.

I was honoured (and a little terrified) to be invited to an exclusive East Midlands Labour event about plans for the economy. As a small fish in a big pond (yes, imposter syndrome made an appearance!), I knew I couldn’t miss the chance to be a voice for the other small businesses in South Derbyshire.

A huge thank you to Samantha Niblett for inviting me to attend, alongside my good friend Steve, a fellow local business owner at Swadlincote Electrical Supplies. I'm so grateful of the doors you're opening for us to gain and share insight on plans for growing our local economy.

It was amazing to hear directly from the Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Darren Jones, listen to his speech, and have meaningful conversations with so many inspiring people who’ve achieved incredible success in their fields.

I'm incredibly grateful for the support of local authorities and organisations that share my vision for empowering small businesses and revitalising our high streets. Working together, we can create accessible, ongoing support that helps entrepreneurs not just start, but grow and thrive in our community.

When opportunities like this come up, I’ll always speak up. Because small businesses, I genuinely want you to succeed. There are so many of us that want you to win and we're ready to work with you to build the support you need to thrive.

People are listening, and together, we’re making sure your voices are heard.

I just wanted to share a little thank you.

Today I've gone from one consulting session with an ongoing client who is expanding their service offer and I am supporting them in delivering that message, straight to my next appointment with a business owner who needs some direction with their social media and how to generate and convert leads through Facebook and Instagram.

I have regular clients who I visit regularly and some who I manage accounts for remotely - all showing thriving results and growth! 💪

I also have fully-booked workshops coming up soon, the very popular Swadlincote Small Biz Showcase underway and a couple of new ideas I plan to put into motion very soon.

So while I grab a quick panini and cuppa at Sweet Caroline cafe, I wanted to use this quick break to thank you all, for trusting me and my brand to help you grow yours.

I will never complain that I'm too busy, it's not something I take for granted and I'm grateful for every 'like', 'follow', email, request and referral that comes my way.

Alright, hands up, how many of you have paid to 'boost' your Facebook post?
Or run a paid ad on Social Media or a Search Engine?
How many of you have done so without any research at all, you just made a nice post, social media tempted you with 'give us a tenner and we'll show this to 25,847 people' and you immediately hit the 'yes please'?

I think a lot of us have.

I've been there and made those mistakes many, many years ago so that you don't have to.

Stop spending your money.

I am not against paid ads. Actually, when built into a effective marketing strategy alongside high-quality organic content, they can be fantastic for generating and converting leads, but just hitting the 'boost' button with no real plan, goal, target, idea of your audience or how your post helps them?
You may as well throw your money straight into the bin!

Social media makes it so easy to spend money and it can seem like a quick way to buy likes, follows, messages etc.. but it just doesn't work that way. Those paid 'likes' are highly unlikely to convert to loyal customers. There are lots of better ways to invest money into your business.

Now, if you know who your target audience are, what your goal is, and have a great visual, a compelling offer and a strong CTA - then go for it! Until then, GET YOUR ORGANIC CONTENT RIGHT FIRST and save those £££s for another day.
