Amad Diallo, born on July 11, 2002, is an exciting young talent from the Ivory Coast who has been making waves in European football. Currently playing as a winger or midfielder for Manchester United and the Ivory Coast national team, Amad's journey from Africa to Italy and then England is one of ambition and skill.
Early Life and Career Beginnings
Born in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, Amad moved to Italy at a young age. He joined Atalanta's youth system in 2015, quickly showing his potential. In his first season, he helped Atalanta win the Campionato Primavera 1 (Italy's U-19 league) and continued to impress as he progressed through the youth ranks. By 2019, Amad was already a star, scoring goals and assisting in the youth competitions, and he helped Atalanta win back-to-back Primavera 1 titles.
Breaking Into The First Team
In October 2019, Amad made his Serie A debut for Atalanta, and just four minutes later, he scored his first-ever goal in Italy's top league, becoming the first player born in 2002 to score in Serie A. He also made his Champions League debut that season, showing he had what it took to compete at the highest level.
Manchester United Move
Amad’s talent didn’t go unnoticed, and in January 2021, he made a high-profile move to Manchester United. The transfer fee was reported to be between €25 million and €40 million. His debut came soon after in February 2021, where he featured in a 4–0 win against Real Sociedad in the Europa League. Amad also scored his first goal for United in a 1–1 draw against AC Milan in March 2021.
Loan Spells at Rangers and Sunderland
To gain more experience, Amad was loaned to Scottish giants Rangers in January 2022. He made an immediate impact, scoring in his debut match. Later that year, he moved to Sunderland in the English Championship for the 2022–23 season. There, he truly shone, scoring 14 goals and providing 4 assists, becoming the club's top scorer.
