We're delighted to welcome Erik Carlson, Sr. Project Executive - Sports & Live Events at , to STADIA | SESSIONS in May!
Erik has been in the construction industry since 1998, joining Diversified in 2020. He previously held positions with Parsons since 2000. Having experience as a field electrician, general foreman and also project management allows Erik to have a comprehensive view of each project. He excels at management of complex projects with demanding schedules and milestones. Erik has leadership experience in all facets of design, submittal, installation, commissioning and turnover of complex, large professional sporting venue projects. He is responsible for coordinating all labour - on an off site - and custom assembly fabrication (racks, speaker brackets, broadcast interface panels) for delivery, installation and owner use. His ultimate responsibility is to ensure the fulfilment of commitments made to customers throughout the construction process.
Erik has been part of some of the most iconic venues in sport, including the likes of Allegiant Stadium, SoFi Stadium, MSG Sphere, Citi Field, UBS Arena, US Bank Stadium, Well Fargo Center, BMO Stadium, Moody Center, and Red Bull Arena, to name a few.
Current projects include UEFA Euro 2024 for Fox Sports, Lumen Field, State Farm Arena, Cyclone Sports Complex, Jack Trice Stadium, and Hilton Coliseum.

We're very excited to announce that Ali ĂelikkÄąran, Stadium Operations Director at , will be joining us at STADIA | SESSIONS!
Ali started working at Galatasaray in 2010, firstly as the Technical Manager of the stadium, which opened in January 2011, until 2021. Since then, he has been in the role of Stadium Operations Director.
He is responsible for all organisations and events held in the stadium, with the stadium security, technical, event and pitch maintenance team reports to him. Ali has taken part in many events, including concerts, such as Madonna and Bon Jovi, as well as the opening and closing matches and ceremonies of the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup and the 2022 Amputee Football World Cup final events. Before having stadium experience, Ali had building management experience, including Turkey's first shopping mall and office buildings.Â
As an Engineer, Environmentalist and Stadium Manager, his proudest project is delivering the most powerful solar power output from a sports stadium, which is included in the Guinness Book of Records.

With over 15 years of experience, Kevin has led specialist engineering teams for landmark projects including Qatar Foundation Stadium, the London Olympic Stadium, and Kuala Lumpur Sports City, as well as for unique, experience-based projects such as Outernet London, Samsung KX, and Superbloom for the Queenâs Jubilee. Kevinâs passion for music production and sound design is the driving force behind content creation at Experience.
Paulie is a multi-disciplinary designer and engineer specialising in creative and immersive spatial audio and video systems for venues and events â ranging from pavilions, arenas and stadia to pop-up events, sculptural installations, museums, and exhibitions.

Gianluca Pizzamiglio, Marketing Manager at , will be joining us in Mykonos for STADIA | SESSIONS!
Born in Udine and a devoted Udinese fan, Gianluca Pizzamiglio pursued a degree in business administration at the University of Pavia from 2005 to 2011. During this time, he participated in the Erasmus programme, spending six months in the Spanish city of Albacete and also engaged in a double degree programme at the University of Tuebingen, Germany, where he conducted research for his final thesis on the topic of ambush marketing in sports events.
Following his academic pursuits, he gained international experience by working in Argentina for a year before furthering his education with a FIFA Master in Sport Business at the Catholic University of Buenos Aires. In July 2013, Pizzamiglio embarked on his professional journey with Udinese Calcio, joining the Marketing, Hospitality and Events Department.
He currently holds the esteemed position of Marketing Manager at Udinese Calcio, overseeing the Marketing Department. With a keen focus on the club's marketing campaigns, development of partnership projects and fostering fan engagement both domestically and internationally, Gianluca plays a pivotal role in promoting the club's brand and vision.

Tom heads up Live Nationâs venues division for Europe, Middle East & Africa. He oversees the management of major arenas in Europe, and the company's venue development strategy for Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA).
He was formerly Senior Vice President for ASM Global, where he oversaw revenue driving activity across ASMâs portfolio of arenas and stadiums, along with development of some of Europe's most iconic venues.Â
His career spans development, venue management, commercial sales, event production, hospitality and food & beverage.Â

George has been one of the leading technology innovators in venues over the last 25 years. During this time, he has been responsible for initiating high-profile projects at iconic locations like Twickenham Stadium, where his work helped the venue win seven major industry awards, and Ascot Racecourse, where he orchestrated a forward-thinking, venue-wide technology overhaul, introducing innovative solutions that helped elevate the racecourseâs tech profile.
In addition, he has worked regularly with the Department for Business and Trade, acting as an advisor for the Rugby World Cup 2019 and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Since 2023, he has continued to innovate across multiple sectors, consulting on a variety of projects with the likes of YTL Arena Bristol, The Royal Air Forces Association and Plumpton Racecourse. Through his company, The Digital Line, he has developed several AI-driven initiatives and technology strategies for the hospitality, healthcare and retail sectors, involving brands like Amazon, Samsung Electronics, Visa, Elavon, Inc. and Bose Professional. He also works regularly with the University of Surrey, where he continues to research and develop initiatives focused on Gen Z engagement.
George is a regular speaker on the conference circuit, a contributor to MONDO | STADIA, and is set to co-host the forthcoming Venue Tech podcast show.

Thiago De Rose, Strategy Consultant & Business Development Lead EMEA at ARENA Events | Venues, is joining us at STADIA | SESSIONS!
Having recently joined ARENA Events | Venues, Thiago's main commitment revolves around the wide-ranging partnership with The Royal Commission for AlUla - a transformative project aimed at developing numerous sports facilities and venues within the historically significant city in Saudi Arabia.
With an illustrious track record, Thiago has played pivotal roles in major sporting events such as the FIFA World Cup in 2014 and 2022, the AFC Asian Cup in 2019 and 2023, the FIFA Confederations Cup in 2013, the FIFA Arab Cup in 2021, and the FIFA Club World Cup in 2018 and 2020. He served as Head of Strategic Planning at Neo Quimica Arena (formerly Arena Corinthians) from 2014 to 2018, too. Thiago has also worked on other stadium development projects, including Pacaembu Stadium and Nabi Abi Chedid Stadium in Brazil, and the Jeddah Central Stadium in Saudi Arabia.
Additionally, he is co-founder of Engage Sports Ventures, a company based in Brazil that works together with ARENA in developing projects and business feasibility plans for sports venues, creating tailor-made sports hospitality programmes for companies and also developed a fan engagement platform called Fanbase that currently has around 20 clients.

Delighted to announce that Javid Garayev, Director at Baku Olympic Stadium will also be joining us at STADIA | SESSIONS in May.
Javid is the Director of Baku Olympic Stadium, which officially opened its doors in 2015. With a capacity of over 68,000, it's largest stadium in Azerbaijan and the proud home of Azerbaijan's national football team.
Notably, in June 2015, the venue took centre stage for the European Games, hosting both the opening and closing ceremonies along with various athletic events. Over the years, it has continued to play a pivotal role in sports and entertainment, welcoming events such as the opening match of the UEFA European Under-17 Championship in 2016, the 2019 UEFA Europa League Final, as well as three group matches and a quarter final at UEFA Euro 2020.

As we bid farewell to an incredible year, we want to send a huge thanks to everyone who worked with and supported us throughout 2023.
Every year, we are truly amazed by the feedback we get from the sporting venue industry - and we feel very lucky to be able to provide a platform for the incredible, groundbreaking projects across the globe, from stadiums and arenas, though to esports, ceremonies, and events.
Exciting plans lie ahead for MONDO | STADIA in 2024, not least our STADIA | SESSIONS event in Mykonos.

We were honoured to attend the opening event at the new .
The highly-adaptable venue is one of the most technologically and environmentally advanced in Europe - and, with a capacity of 16,000 for concerts and 12,000 for sporting events, it promises to become a thriving destination for entertainment.
The thrilling game between and was a fitting opener for LDLC Arena, showcasing its incredible technology, facilities and atmosphere.
Thanks to Pierre Duprat and Alabama MĂŠdia for showing us around and discussing the entire project.
Special mention to Alexis at 3WM Communications for organising a memorable visit!

'Live Emotion' - Celebrating 40 years of
The team looked back over four decades of design, focussing on the experience of magical moments and collective celebration that the venues have generated all over the world.
There was also incredible insight into what it's like to perform in those stadiums from a professional perspective, too, from Ledley King and Lawrence Dallaglio.
