🚨SUMMER SPECIAL🚨

The Substate Comedy Club is making a grand return to Alloa's hotspot, The Royal Oak, on July 6th, bringing a stellar lineup of Scotland's comedy gems. Avoid the summertime sadness and and say hello to a night packed with laughter, whether you're rolling in with your crew or your better half.

Leading the show is the crowd favorite Jack Traynor who you may recognise from his recent feature in ‘The Scotts’ (from the makers of burnistoun), known for his epic roast battles and infectious hosting charm he is more than qualified to take on his first Alloa crowd. Joining him is the rising star Mick McNeil, a regular comedy club headliner who is set to conquer the Fringe this summer, many of his solo shows have been widely acclaimed and he promises a top performance. Making his Substate debut is the sensational Mikey Motion, renown for wowing audiences nationwide with his electrifying performances as an opener and headliner across multiple comedy clubs, his solo shows regularly sell-out and he is not one to be missed. And let's not forget the hilarious Mick Murphy, a crowd-pleaser known for hitting the comedy bullseye every time, one of the best and consistent comedians rising up through the comedy circuit.

But wait for the cherry on top - the BAFTA-nominated Darren Connell will be headlining the night! Famous for his Scots Squad role, his online antics are legendary, and his live shows are pure dynamite. With a UK-wide fanbase and sold-out solo gigs he will be bringing his A-game to the wee county, this lineup promises to be a comedy extravaganza you won't want to miss in little Alloa this summer.

Don't miss out on another comedy extravaganza at the famous Slanj-A-Va bar in Stirling this April 26th! It's the perfect prescription for a Friday night after a gruelling work week at work.This is not to be missed - whether you bring your mates or fancy planning a side-splitting date night, Stirling's finest comedy club has got you sorted! Five top-notch comedians from all over are set to blow you away.

Leading the laughter parade is the fantastic Jack Traynor, a Substate regular and rising star known for his giggle-inducing role in 'The Scotts' from the Burnistoun creators. Joining the fun is the sensational South African comedian Stu Campbell, who's been wowing crowds since his comedy debut, including a show-stopping performance at our very own 'Heart and Prole' new material night. Making her grand Substate entrance is the impressive Kate Hammer, a double Funny Women awards nominee and one of the hottest rising talents on the circuit, while the sensational Amanda Dwyer, fresh from selling out multiple shows at the Glasgow comedy festival, promises a barrel of laughs for a rowdy Substate crowd.

And the cherry on top? None other than the Scottish Comedian of the Year, Liam Farrelly, a comedy sensation with multiple award nominations and a jaw-dropping Live At The Apollo performance which had audiences in sheer awe. It's time to laugh till you cry at Substate Comedy Club's first-ever homeshow. No more complaining about there being nothing to do in town! The Royal Oak in Alloa is the place to be on April 12th, with five of Scotland's funniest comedians all lined up for a night you'll never forget. The one and only Jack Traynor will be shaking things up with his smooth hosting skills, fresh from his appearance on 'The Scotts' (from the makers of Burnistoun).

But wait, there's more! We've got a lineup of heavyweights to tickle your funny bone, including some of the freshest new talent in the scene. Louis Utieyin, last year's SYTYF Runner-up, will be taking the stage with his hilarious antics, alongside Mikey Motion, a BBC New Comedy Award 2023 shortlister. If that's not enough then things are about to get even funnier. Daniel Petrie, winner of the prestigious Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year in 2023, will round off the support acts. And last but not least, the viral sensation - Mark Black - fresh from selling over 1000 tickets at the Glasgow Pavilion Venue will be headlining the show.

So, get your pals together for an evening of cheap pints and side-splitting comedy. Whether you come solo or with your squad, this unforgettable event is sure to leave you in stitches!

The Substate comedy club moves to Slanj A Va (formerly the kilted kangaroo) bringing a variety of comedy styles, guaranteed to have you laughing your head off.

As ever we have lined up some of the best up-and-coming comedians from around the circuit as we try to build the local comedy scene. We have the 2020 Best newcomer Amelia Bayler who is a regular around the scottish circuit and her fringe shows over the years have been widely acclaimed and even featured in rolling stone’s list of stand-out shows. Chris Thorburn returns to the substate after a succesful year around the comedy circuit and cracking fringe, bringing his personable and hilarious style to the table. Louis Utieyin former stirling uni student and SYTYF semi finalist this year returns to the city where his comedy journey began to take on a packed substate crowd.

Host of the evening is member of the wholesome prison blues collective Jack Traynor who has been flying up the comedy ranks in recent times. Headlining will be James Gardner who has been blowing away comedy clubs around the county with his self-deprecating wit and unique insight into his haphazard experiences in life. James recently recieved a lot of plaudits for his fringe show ‘born in a wheelchair’ which was covered by the bbc for challenging the stigma around how society views disabled people after growing up with a disabled brother himself. This show has a little bit of something for everyone and should not be missed.

Get rid of your post-summer blues with a night of laughter and top acts. One of the best up-and-comers Kate Hammer will be hosting the evening, she has been bringing laughter to comedy clubs from Glasgow to Edinburgh and was semi-finalist both for Funny Women and LGBTQ Comedian of the year in 2022. Joining us once again will also be viral social media comic and 2022 SYTYF runner-up Mark Black as ever bringing dark comedy and a wicked sense of humour. Following him will be newcomer Stevie Coulter who has been impressing the circuit over the last year with notable fringe performances and slots at comedy clubs across Scotland. Daniel Petrie the winner of this year's prestigious Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year will take the stage after another successful fringe and a year of blowing audiences away.

Headlining is Krystal Evans who has been impressing audiences all over the country and had her fringe show award nominated, she has been highly talked about by critics, fellow comedians and audiences alike, she has also featured in BBC's Scots Squad and even had a special mention for the Billy Connolly Spirit of Glasgow Award this year.
