Sanu Jallow aims to make it out of first round

Banjul, The Gambia , July 17, 2024 - Gambian born athlete, Sanu Jallow has said that her target at her maiden appearance for The Gambia at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris is to make it out of round one and keep fighting to the end.

The young, yet spontaneous and hardworking athlete said it feels so surreal but yet a blessing that she will be representing The Gambia at the Olympics. According to her, not many people can say they are going to the Olympics to even represent their country.

“I am honoured to show the world where I am from and what we are about,” added Sanu who had the opportunity to also represent the United States of America.

“Deciding which country to represent was actually pretty hard but after a long conversation with my parents we were able to come to a decision to represent my home country,” said the studious athlete.

She said that her preparation has been going great and that she was working hard to make sure all errors are fixed.
“I do not believe there are any challenges but you never know what could happen. The biggest challenge is staying motivated,” she said.

Breaking!

The ECOWAS Parliament has overwhelmingly voted against a proposal for the regional body to play a major role in the establishment of a special tribunal for the Gambia.

Despite strong arguments from the five Gambian lawmakers at the Parliament who were supportive of the document's passage, the majority of the Parliamentarians argued that ECOWAS cannot be a referee and a player, noting that its role would be compromised should anything go wrong in the Gambia.

The Gambian lawmakers argued that the people of Gambia need and deserve justice following years of crimes and atrocities committed against them, beseeching ECOWAS to assist in the process.

Parliamentarians disagreeing with them noted that the Gambia can set up its own court using its constitutional and other legal processes but that ECOWAS cannot be a party to it.

Two lawmakers from Liberia including Taa Wongbe and Edwin Snowe spoke on the floor, agreeing with the majority decision.

Family , please come listen to our indefatigable fearless Foni MPs tearing the “ special prosecutor office “ bill in parliament 🤣🤣🤣..

Family , I’ll give you this one for free; you can please give this information to your prosecutor or legal team in your planned “ Hybrid Court “ …..we will not even waste our time or resources to challenge the false allegations or its details in court, we’ll just stop at demonstrating and chronologically illustrating to the court how the whole enterprise of the TRRC was corrupt and compromised from inception….to discredit the TRRC in front of credible judge is as simple as drinking water…let me start with just few points….🤣🤣🤣

- Your honour, please allow me to throw this case out of the window; this bill that this corrupt government is using to prosecute my client ( Babili Mansa ) derives its powers and legitimacy from a corrupt enterprise called ( TRRC ) whose setup is questionable and compromised from start; Your Honour, please allow me to just state a few :-
- Our 1997 constitution of the Gambia, which is the highest authority of our country, clearly states in an unambiguous terms the profile of the personnel to constitute that body. It’s states that the leader of such a commission should pass the “ Fit & Proper Test “; in other words , should have the experience, education and above all, the integrity to command the respect of right thinking members of society. The constitution states that, the chairman should be a Judge .The Chairman of the TRRC, Mr Lamin Ceesay has never been a Judge anywhere in the world; a mere fact that he graduated from Cambridge and worked in the United Nations alone doesn’t qualify him to be a Chairman. The framers of our 1997 constitution were astute individuals…
- The Lead Investigator, Mr Barrow, is a convicted felon , a criminal and a terrorist per excellence…. this was a terrorist who was part of a group that took arms from America, and attacked our State House with an intent to kill our president ( Babili) in December… this was the same guy who was given the task to investigate Babili and his associates..shocking….
- You Honour, please allow me few more minutes show you how compromised the setup was. One of the counsel members ( Adeleth Sosseh ), claimed to be a direct victim of Babili and it was openly stated how she actively supported and collaborated with enemies of Babili in Mali to illegally remove Babili from office. It was this same Madame Sosseh who started that “ The Jolas “ are the problem of Gambia, in essence, anyone who’s a Jola is treated differently and unfairly in the TRRC COMMISSION… do u want me to play the video of her in court for everyone to see your honour?
- There was a pervasive culture of bribery and corruption in that TRRC; the lead counsel, Mr Essa Camel Head Faal, was seen blatantly compromising his station as a Lead counsel, promising cash advances to a witness for information; this, to me is the hight of gross negligence and incompetence in the superlative terms. It undermines the integrity of the TRRC. This was done in the gleeful eyes of the Chairman;
- There are evidence of TRRC members intimidating witnesses who had no legal representation. These people were vulnerable to the supposedly skilful and experienced lawyers using all the legal techniques to trap and corner witnesses to implicate themselves…. Good cop , Bad cop techniques were used to allow witnesses to hang themselves ….promises of, “ please implicate Babili” and we’ll let you free..
- Some witnesses were locked in prison for years without charge before taken to TRRC, this was designed to break them down and give them a dichotomy choice of prison or freedom by implicating Babili…
- Your Honour, it’s also worth remembering that, there are witnesses who are primary evidence, who were never called and never allowed to testify even though they actively wrote to the TRRC to defend their names smeared by others…witnesses were conveniently selected to satisfy their ill conceived vendetta against Babili…
- The terrorist attack in our military Barracks in Farafenni , Stste House, and Katong were never investigated by the corrupt TRRC because, it was alleged that nearly half of the TRRC Members were directly or indirectly involved in those brutal unfortunate crimes against our gallant soldiers….the families of those fallen soldiers were never accorded the same opportunity to narrate their stories in the corrupt TRRC….

Your Honour, these list is not exhaustive, but gives you a prelude of how corrupt and compromised this bill which derives its spirit from the corrupt TRRC. So, I would implore on you to please throw this entire case out of the window and not waste the courts time, WASALAM 🤣🤣🤣

Abdou Latif Coulibaly resigns from his post as Secretary General of the Government

Abdou Latif Coulibaly resigned from his post as Secretary General of the Government this Saturday, January 23. "Having noted the facts taking place in the National Assembly and having also taken very good note of the address to the Senegalese people, I have decided to leave. After careful consideration, I have decided to draw all the consequences of all this, to leave the Government. I thus regain my full and complete freedom, to be able to defend my opinions and my political convictions. This freedom is essential to me, in this period", he declared in a text that we publish in full.

"I communicated this afternoon to the Head of State my decision to leave my functions as Minister Secretary General of the government. I indicated to him that having noted the facts taking place in the National Assembly and having also taken very good note of the address to the Senegalese people, I decided to leave. After careful consideration, I made the decision to draw all the consequences of all this, to leave the Government. I thus regain my full and complete freedom , to be able to defend my opinions and my political convictions. This freedom is essential to me during this period.

I also explained to the President of the Republic that I was finally waiting for his word to send my resignation letter. I also explained to him that I wanted to leave, reaffirming that throughout my career as a journalist my brother, Cheikh Ahmed Tidiane Coulibaly, was never involved, either directly or remotely, in my work, other than reading , whenever he felt like it.

Long live the Republic. We believe in her deeply. And in her we will always continue to believe. Because it is she, the only reliable rampart, because solid as a rock, in the face of all the perilous adventures towards which some try to lead us!
