⭐️⭐️Ten million users signed up for Meta's newly launched Threads app in its first seven hours, the company's chief Mark Zuckerberg says.

He pitched the app as a "friendly" rival to Twitter, which was bought by Elon Musk in October.

So, is it better than Twitter?
Meta’s clone of Twitter does feel like, well, using Twitter.

The features – likes, retweets, following – are nearly identical to its longstanding microblog predecessor.

However, with Twitter getting progressively less usable since Musk took it over, opening an app and actually being able to see and engage with content smoothly felt like a breath of fresh air.

In order to sign up you must have an IG account, download the app and it will transfer all your IG data in order to create your new Meta Threads account.

Threads is now available to download in over 100 countries including the UK, but not yet in the EU because of regulatory concerns.⭐️⭐️

🚫🚫 Instagram is down for hundreds of thousands of users worldwide, and many people are unable to log in to their accounts in the app and website.😣

The US, China, parts of Europe and South America are experiencing issues.

Its not yet clear what has sparked the glitches, but users say the cannot access their accounts and if they can, the feed is not loading - this is impacting the app for both iOS and Android.🚫🚫

⚠️⚠️Facebook Chaos this morning as users' feeds are filled with random posts to celebrity pages triggering avalanche of spam.😫

The social network's 2.8billion global users reported falling victim to the bizarre bug that filled news feeds with memes, cryptocurrency spam and more random additions.

Anyone sharing content to pages of famous bands, athletes and influencers would then having their post broadcasted to the feeds of the millions of people who followed them - making Facebook practically unusable for several hours.

Posts shared to popular accounts are usually filtered out, but security experts said that Meta's recent changes to its algorithm may have been behind the issue.

A Meta spokeswoman told MailOnline: 'We're aware that some people are having trouble with their Facebook Feed. We're working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible and we apologise for any inconvenience.' ⚠️⚠️

🍎🍎If you have an APPLE device its good to check for updates if you haven't recieved one already.....BILLIONS of users across the globe 🌎 are being asked to update iPhones and Macs as the tech giant reveals cyber criminals can take control of devices and access bank accounts, photos and more.😫

● Apple has disclosed serious security vulnerabilities for certain models of iPhones, iPads and Macs.
● Security experts say issues could potentially allow attackers to take complete control of the devices.
● iPhone 6S and later models; and several models of the iPad from 5th generation all affected by issues.
● Also affected are iPad Pros, iPad Mini 4 and later, iPad Air 2 and later and Macs on MacOS Monterey.

There have so far been no confirmed reports of specific cases where the security flaw had been used against people or devices, and Apple has made no statement on the issue further to an update on its website.

⚠️⚠️If you're trying and failing to use Instagram this morning you are not alone.

A glitch hit users last night with the popular service constantly crashing when being launched.

Although the issues appear to have been fixed for the majority of usera, there are still hundreds of reports that Instagram is still crashing for some.

It's unclear exactly who is affected although some reports suggest that Android phone owners might be suffering more than those with an iPhone.

Videos posted online show users opening the application with things then crashing almost immediately.

According to META who own IG... A fix is being made as we speak ⚠️⚠️

⭐⭐The downside of being a social media management company is the fact you have very little time to update your own 🤣

⭐⭐Facebook has changed its corporate name to Meta as part of a major rebrand.

The company said it would better "encompass" what it does, as it broadens its reach beyond social media into areas like virtual reality (VR).

The change does not apply to its individual platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp, only the parent company that owns them. 👍

In 2015, Google restructured its company calling its parent firm Alphabet, however, the name has not caught on.🤦‍♀️

Zuckerberg announced the new name as he unveiled plans to build a "metaverse" - an online world where people can game, work and communicate in a virtual environment, often using VR headsets.

He said the existing brand could not "possibly represent everything that we're doing today, let alone in the future", and needed to change.

The word "meta" comes from the Greek word meaning "beyond". 🇬🇷

To an outsider, a metaverse may look like a version of VR, but some people believe it could be the future of the internet.

Instead of being on a computer, people in a metaverse might use a headset to enter a virtual world connecting all sorts of digital environments.

It is hoped the virtual world could be used for practically anything from work, play and concerts, to socialising with friends and family.⭐⭐

⭐⭐According to reports Donald Trump is set to release a BRAND NEW social media platform known as "Truth" 🤦‍♀️

Trump has been banned from major social media platforms since January this year.

Looking suspiciously like a clone of Twitter it will open to “invited users” next month and be rolled out to the public early next year.

“I created TRUTH Social to stand up to the tyranny of Big Tech,” Trump said in a statement. “We live in a world where the Taliban has a huge presence on Twitter, yet your favorite American President has been silenced. This is unacceptable.”

Trump Media & Technology Group’s plans are extremely ambitious. Not only does he want to take on Facebook and Twitter and Google, he wants to disrupt Disney, Apple, Netflix, Google and Amazon too by off shoots of his group taking them on at their own games.

Trump is currently attempting to sue Twitter, Facebook, and Google for allegedly violating his First Amendment rights 🙄

He said his platform would "stand up to the tyranny of big tech", accusing them of silencing opposing voices in the US.

⭐⭐ As I'm sure everyone is now aware, FB, WhatsApp, Instagram all went down for 6 hours last night around 1630pm BST.... Which sent droves of people over to Twitter who rarely seem affected by outage issues it has to be said.

It also apparently affected EE and TMobile as well as 4 major telecommunications companies in the US 🇺🇸

Everything, so far seems to be back up and functioning this morning with no real explanation as to the cause.... 🙄

To all our clients, We've been through all accounts this morning and all is back to normal with no issues and no effects. *Brow wipe 🤦‍♀️

With such a vague excuse for the outage, it left us wondering.... did someone accidently pull out the wrong plug or drop a coffee on something they shouldn't? 😉🤣

$6 Billion dollars was lost in revenue for those 6 hours offline 😯 ⭐⭐

Despite all the safety challenges and the rise of alternative tools, TikTok remains the most downloaded app with more than 80 million installs by May 2021.⭐⭐

⭐⭐ This morning, many of the websites we rely on daily, including Amazon, Reddit, Twitch, Pinterest and CNET went offline due to a major outage at a service called Fastly. 🤦‍♀️

Everywhere you looked, there were "503 errors" and people complaining they couldn't access key services and sites. 🤷‍♀️

At around 2.58 a.m. Fastly noted an error on its status update page that said: "we're currently investigating potential impact to performance with our CDN [content delivery network] services." Shortly thereafter, reports of major news publications including the BBC, CNN and the New York Times being offline emerged on Twitter.

Twitter itself was still running, although the server that hosted its emojis went down, leading to some odd-looking tweets. 🐎🦄🐆🦍🦧🐕

We know that the internet outage was caused by a "service configuration," but not much more than that right now. 😏

Until Fastly investigates fully, it'll be hard to declare the root cause of the catastrophic failure.

It's not necessarily a cybersecurity attack, as many people have speculated on Twitter. There are many technical reasons a CDN can fail, and cyber attacks are just one of them.

Sites affected are starting to return to normal ⭐⭐

Super Follow is how creators on the platform will monetize 💷 their presence by providing exclusive content to users who Super follow their profile.

🍎🍏Apple will release iOS 14.5, a significant and controversial update to the iPhone, next week, it has confirmed.✅

The update will bring a range of improvements & includes the ability to unlock your phone with an Apple Watch ⌚, to make it easier to use the iPhone whilst wearing a mask.

The biggest change will be the introduction of Apple’s new App Tracking Transparency or ATT feature.📱📱📱

The tool will require advertisers to ask for explicit permission when they want to track a users’ behaviour across certain apps.📲

The feature has put Apple into a huge disagreement with advertisers including Facebook, which has said that it will make a material difference to its business.💻

The growing tension between the two powerhouses has led to Facebook suggesting that Apple was misleading customers and that the new policy was intended to increase Apple’s profits rather than help with privacy.🔐

But Apple argue that "the feature is a necessary curb on the ad industry and that it is in keeping with its commitment to treat privacy as a human right".

💻💻Instagram has announced the rollout of a new tool that it hopes will combat online abuse.

Working with anti-discrimination charities, the online platform has developed a predefined list of offensive terms and emojis.

If a direct message contains harmful content it will be filtered, so that a user does not have to view it.

The feature, which needs to be activated, will be rolled out in a variety of countries in the coming weeks.
