What’s your reason for tuning in to the podcast?

Karin and I meet every Friday on the allotment plot, record this podcast and talk about the week gone by and all that’s is our lives on the plot!

Not experts, no thrills, just two women who love to sow, grow and make compost. And talk about the detail of it all! 🤣

And we love all of our listeners new and old who tune in for whatever reason, whether that’s to share in allotment life or simply to be lulled to sleep with our mindless chatter, you are all very welcome! 🤗

Relieved to see flowers on the heavily pruned apple tree!

Absolutely love the trusty broad beans; even if everything else fails or gets eaten, at least I’ll have a few of these 🌱🌱🌱

☺️🌱 Anyone for salad? So pleased with these two trays of mixed red and green leaves, coming on nicely. Give it a couple of weeks and they‘ll be ready for dinner. Growing this inside my window so great to just pick a few leaves when we need them!

Thanks so much to the brilliant for the tip a few weeks back 🙏🌱🙏

Anyone for dinner?

The only things eating this broccoli will be these slugs.

I’m done, they can have them. Nets off, birds and can have them too. Go for your life.

Choose your battles. 🤣

🌱 i sometimes get to the allotment around 7am, when the children are asleep and the world is quiet. I’m here with my coffee, taking a moment to just be on the plot, looking at all that’s growing and bursting into bud, planning the next steps, like tethering pots down so they don’t blow in the wind.

This morning I felt like seeing what the allotment would do with a bundle of mixed seeds. So I just made a little seed bomb of pollinators and wild flowers and scattered them at the front of the plot in a small no dig bed.

I wonder whether they’ll want to grow here?

Looking forward.

Podcast’s Logo attempt #56

Back in September when we launched the pod, this was one of the 100s of AI generated images that were created for The Plot Thickens Podcast before we decided on the favourite.

This one was particularly special.

🤩😂🤩😂🤩

If you haven’t heard us yet and want to take a listen to our life on our no dig allotments, tune in to our weekly episodes on your favourite podcast app.

We delve into the world of eco friendly gardening, get high on soil improvement, have a flurry of enthusiasm for water conservation and rainwater harvesting. We have a penchant for up cycling and reusing where we can and can talk the legs off a donkey when it comes to seeds.

We’d love you to join us ☺️💚🌱

Spent the evening waking up my 30 or so geraniums; some have been in the garage over winter and some on a dark window sill in the kitchen.

Now I have hundreds of cut offs to root into new plants :-) Luckily most go outside in the summer, absolutely no space in the house 🌱🌱🌱

What on earth is going on here? 😂

Tray left out in the rain overnight thereby the very wet and uneven soil in each cell, probably won’t help with further germination 🥴

This week’s episode is out this morning! If you are anything like us and can talk for hours about sowing seeds then hopefully this is the episode for you.

God knows what happened to our mics, we clearly need a big fluffy boom on windy days. Sorry about that! We’ll be back on track next week!

Back in July,on the first day of owning my plot, I found this skull in and amongst the metre high couch grass.

I’ve kept this little skull as a reminder that the land doesn’t belong to me and that the life belongs to the wild.

One emptied compost heap = one cosy hiding place.

Another productive day on the plot, adding compost to the hugelkultur, around the fruit trees and on the beds.

Planted a few raspberry canes from a kind neighbour, sowed some pollinators and tucked them in. Took some of Karin’s lovely apple tree branches to create my dead hedge / log pile at the end of the plot where I’m hoping to encourage all the wildlife to hide too.

Oh, and more composting. I’m obsessed.
