A look behind the scenes of a remote production
We are thrilled to announce that GALWAD has been selected as a finalist for the SXSW Innovation Award in the Immersive category! The award will be announced on the evening of 13th March 2023.
Technically produced by oXyFire Media as a remote production, GALWAD was conceived as a new kind of tri-lingual, real-time storytelling, and broke new ground in distributing the characters and plot of the story across over 400-pieces of content; immersing the viewer in the action through single-shot cinematography; threading BSL, Welsh and English through the script and performances and working across theatre, film and TV sectors to deliver an ambitious creative vision, live from Wales.
GALWAD set out to be an exemplar of good practice relating to sustainable development in the creative arts. With sustainability at the core of the project's values and storyline, we devised & developed a low-emissions workflow utilising bonded IP technology. In both production and operationally, we aimed for net zero carbon impact; minimised waste and implemented a circular economy; conserved the environment and biodiversity; provided sustainable catering; and nurtured team wellbeing.
As a finalist in the Immersive category, GALWAD is among the most exciting new projects in AV, VR, XR, and other innovative forms of storytelling. We are honoured to be recognized for our unique approach to immersive storytelling and our ability to captivate audiences across multiple platforms.
We eagerly await the results of the awards ceremony, which will take place tonight at the Austin Convention Center, USA. Whether we win or not, we are incredibly proud of the entire team and the hard work they have put into GALWAD.
