A Taste for the King has been play tested at Protospiel and Break My Game.

Recently I attended Protospiel Online April 2022 with A Taste for the King. The game had two very quick revisions during the weekend based on player feedback. The second revision refined the idea of indicators on the card back but removed the traffic light design, instead favouring indicating one of the five courses on each card. Obviously dishes are labelled correctly but poisons and actions are labelled in a such a way as to increase treachery.

The game still needs some tweaking, there are additional cards that could be implemented to maximise production efficiency but this can't come at the cost of slowing down the game or making it too hard to win so further testing is needed.

The first was to add indicators to the backs of the cards to give people a little more informed decision on discards. The original design used a traffic light system, however this turned out to be much too easy to break.
