تقدم "مواعيد تالفة" لعرفات مصلح قصة مؤثرة منسوجة بمشاعر معقدة وفروق دقيقة. تتكشف القصة في أجواء الحانة ذات الإضاءة الخافتة، حيث يبحث بطل القصة، المثقل بثقل التوقعات المحطمة، عن العزاء وسط المحيط المألوف.

Black Friday and Colonial Exploitation
I tried to reread the celebration of Black Friday and its impact on the colonized. From a postcolonial perspective, the revival of Black Friday by colonial powers can be seen as a manifestation of the ongoing power dynamics and economic exploitation that persist in the postcolonial world. Colonial powers historically exerted dominance over colonized nations, exploiting their resources and labor to fuel their own economic growth. This exploitation often led to the impoverishment and marginalization of colonized peoples.
The revival of Black Friday can be understood as a continuation of this exploitative relationship. Colonial powers, even after the formal end of colonial rule, maintain economic dominance and influence over former colonies. By promoting and capitalizing on a consumer-driven event like Black Friday, they perpetuate a model of consumption and consumerism that benefits their own economies while further marginalizing and disempowering postcolonial nations.
Additionally, the revival of Black Friday can be seen as a means for colonial powers to assert cultural dominance and shape global narratives. The spread of Black Friday to other parts of the world represents the imposition of Western consumer culture and values on diverse societies. It reinforces the idea that consumption and material accumulation are markers of progress and success, promoting a particular worldview that aligns with the interests of the colonial powers.
Furthermore, the colonial powers' promotion of Black Friday can deepen existing inequalities and exacerbate social and economic disparities. In many postcolonial nations, the majority of the population struggles with poverty and limited access to basic resources. The emphasis on consumerism and the pressure to participate in Black Friday sales can create a sense of aspiration and desire for material goods that may be unattainable for many. This perpetuates a cycle of inequality and reinforces existing power structures.
