Things I don’t do as I am approaching 40 to keep my body & metabolism in check:
▪️Fear heavy weights:
Lifting heavy will NOT make you bulky! Muscle tissue burns more calories at rest compared to fat tissue, so increasing muscle mass can help boost metabolism.
▪️Lots of cardio:
Prolonged cardio sessions, especially at high intensities, can lead to muscle loss along with fat loss. Since muscle tissue is metabolically active and burns more calories at rest compared to fat tissue, a decrease in muscle mass can slow down metabolism and make it harder to maintain weight loss.
▪️Skimp on protein:
Protein is essential for muscle growth which helps rev up your metabolism and will keep you full longer to reduce snacking. Use a macro tracker to see how much you should eat based on your goals. (This will also tell you how much fat & carbs you need a day too!)
▪️Not prioritize sleep:
Aim for seven to nine hours per night to regulate hormones and support metabolism. This is also when your body is rejuvenating, so you need it after lifting!
▪️Let stress take control:
Incorporate activities like meditation, yoga, or spending time outdoors to reduce stress and support a healthy metabolism & cortisol levels. You can also incorporate supplements that aid in stress reduction like what’s in my bio ;)

Although your feelings are valid, I advise against dismissing them entirely. As a woman and a mother, I firmly advocate for acknowledging your emotions, but not to the extent that they obstruct your progress.
Experience your emotions, then analyze their origins rationally, and seek solutions accordingly. If that approach proves ineffective, assess the significance of the emotion in relation to your long-term goals. Will it matter in five years? Is it propelling you closer to your aspirations, or pulling you away?
