Breaking out of old patterns is hard. In fact, we tend to do anything to avoid it, even if it means making ourselves unhappy.

Breaking free of them isn't an easy decision to make, but it is incredibly liberating. It also allows us to make space for something new and wonderful, something that maybe we have always wanted.

So make the decision, do you turn the page or close the book for good?

Winter Remedy: Herbal Facial Steam for Clear Sinuses 🌿

Winter’s here, and the sniffles and stuffy noses are not our favourite part of cosy season. ❄️ So, let’s kick congestion to the curb with a little herbal magic...✨ This bundle of herbs is a simple, soothing remedy that combines Thyme, Yarrow, and Pine to clear your sinuses and give your face the TLC it deserves. 🌲🌿

Why These Herbs?
Thyme (Thymus vulgaris) is a powerful antiseptic and respiratory tonic. They help clear congestion and ease the discomfort of a stuffy nose. The warm, soothing steam helps to loosen mucus, while their natural antimicrobial properties cleanse your airways.

Yarrow (Achillea millefolium) has long been used to support the respiratory system and promote circulation, helping to boost your immune system during the colder months. They’re known for their ability to promote healthy sweating, which can help expel toxins.

Pine (Pinus spp.) brings a refreshing, invigorating scent to the steam. They relieve chest congestion and provide a burst of fresh air with every breath you take.

How to Make the Steam:
Prepare Your Bundle: Take equal parts of Thyme, Yarrow, and Pine (you can use fresh or dried herbs) and place them into a muslin bag or cheesecloth. Secure tightly with string.
Heat the Water: Boil a pot of water and let it cool slightly until it’s steaming—not boiling—before pouring it into a heatproof bowl.
Add the Bundle: Submerge your herbal bundle into the steaming water, allowing the herbs to infuse and release their natural oils.
Steam Away: Drape a towel over your head and lean over the bowl, allowing the steam to rise and gently clear your sinuses. Breathe deeply for 5-10 minutes, taking in the soothing vapours. Be careful not to get too close to the hot steam.
Relax: After your steam, enjoy the refreshed feeling as your sinuses clear and your skin is hydrated from the soothing warmth. 🌬️💧

This simple, natural remedy is your winter wellness go-to, offering relief from the season's pesky colds, flu, and sinus congestion.

🍯 Onion Syrup: Your Secret Kitchen Remedy for Coughs and Colds

When the seasons change and sniffles start creeping in, it’s the perfect time to turn to a little kitchen magic. There’s something so satisfying about using simple, everyday ingredients to create a remedy that really works. And guess what? If you’ve got onions and sugar—or honey—you’re already halfway there to making a powerful natural cough syrup.

Onion syrup might not sound glamorous, but trust us, it works. This humble concoction soothes coughs, calms irritated airways and even gives your immune system a little boost. Plus, it’s ridiculously easy to make, budget-friendly, and a fun project to do with kids (they love the layering part!).

Here’s how you do it:

Start with a clean jar and 2–3 onions. Red onions are a bit milder, but white ones work just as well. If you’ve got garlic or ginger hanging around, toss those in for an extra immune boost. Slice the onions nice and thin, then layer them at the bottom of the jar—about 3cm deep.

Next, add a layer of sugar or honey, about 1cm thick. If you’ve got brown molasses sugar, even better—it’s packed with minerals like iron and magnesium. Then just keep building it up: onions, garlic or ginger, sweetener, repeat. Finish with a generous layer of sugar or honey, seal the jar, and let it sit overnight.

By morning, you’ll have a dark, sticky syrup that’s packed with goodness. You can use it as is or strain it for a smoother texture—it’s totally up to you.

So, why does this work? Onions are rich in quercetin, a natural compound that helps calm inflammation and soothe irritated airways. Garlic adds antimicrobial power, and ginger acts as a warming expectorant. And the sweetener draws out the juices, soothes your throat, and helps preserve the syrup.

Adults can take 2–3 teaspoons three times a day, and kids can have 1 teaspoon. Start using it as soon as you notice symptoms for best results. And if you’re feeling adventurous, try adding a pinch of turmeric for extra anti-inflammatory power or a squeeze of lemon for a vitamin C kick.
