Road now open.

Can you assist our investigation into a serious collision earlier today? ⬇

It happened on the A170 between Thornton-le-Dale and Pickering at about 7.30am this morning, and involved a silver VW Passat travelling towards Pickering and a blue VW Up travelling towards Thornton-le-Dale.

The drivers of both cars were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The road was closed to allow emergency services to work at the scene. It was re-opened shortly after 5pm.

Any witnesses with information that could assist the police investigation are asked to come forward. In particular, officers want to hear from anyone who saw the collision, or the VW Passat prior to the collision, or has any relevant dashcam footage.

If so, please email [email protected] and [email protected], quoting incident reference NYP-17042024-0067.

Road closure warning ⚠

Please avoid the A170 between Thornton-le-Dale and Pickering.

The road is closed following a serious two-vehicle collision within the last 30 minutes. It's likely to be closed for some time while the emergency services work at the scene.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Our annual christmas raffle will be held at The Buck Inn in Thornton on Saturday 16th December, 5:30pm start. This is our most important fundraiser of the year and helps to keep our local club running by contributing to the costs of rent, grounds upkeep, equipment, affiliation fees, etc.

Tickets are £1 each and can be purchased by messaging our page, or by emailing [email protected]. Tickets are also on sale in Thornton-le-Dale at the Buck Inn, Wardill Bros, and Overbrook Caravan Park.

As always, we will have some great prizes on offer this year, which include various vouchers from local business', assortments of food and drink, and a big cash prize of £100 - well worth a gamble for £1!

Also, if anyone would like to support our fundraiser by donating a prize to the raffle, please get in touch!

Please spread the word so we can make this our most successful event yet! Many thanks, from everyone at Thornton Dale FC.
