When you come to have school portraits taken with Top Dog Photography, we provide a relaxed and calm environment and we work with your children so they can settle in and enjoy the process.

Too often we hear about children only having a few seconds in front of the camera to get the right shot before their turn is up. This can be really tricky for shy children or children with sensory issues.

The humble egg…..

Interesting news stories yet again this morning. Price increases, inflation, interest rates etc.

We haven’t increased our egg price since we started in July 2021.

Even with the eye watering feed and fuel cost rises. Obviously, this isn’t the capitalist way and our prices won’t stay the same forever.

However, at a time when everyone is feeling the pinch we feel it’s only fair to stay loyal to our community and encourage more people to shop direct and local.

The egg is such a versatile and delicious food source. Our local Tesco bog standard free range (a loose term to say the least) eggs are £1.80 per 6. When we started they were £1.30. Some big profits over the last 12 months for the supermarkets…..

Over much debate 🙈 we have chosen not to increase prices (so far) so people will stay loyal to us. As much as possible anyway.

Were we expensive when we started, no, I don’t think so. Our birds are allowed to roam in fresh herbal leys and express all their natural behaviours. We move them to fresh ground at regular intervals as previously described. The electric fence is only there to prevent predators having a feast.

Supermarket eggs don’t come from hens living like this!

Animal welfare must go above and beyond the basic legal requirements. Our hens can be seen by the road, not packed in a shed hidden from view.

Thanks to everyone who buys our eggs and other goods, makes all the hard work worthwhile!

PHYSIO FOR YOUNG PEOPLE

Last weekend was all about ballet shows for us, and here is a picture of my middle child, Maggie, doing what she loves.

There is no better feeling than seeing your child showcasing what they have trained for. It makes the hours of driving, lifts and rushing around completely worthwhile for parents.

However, as they get older and ramp up their training and practice they can experience injury or pain.

Often it can be hard to know what to do for the best, and as parents, we can be too emotionally connected to think practically about the problem. As a physio, I have to remind myself to treat them as if they were a patient and not my child: how would I advise them then?

Great new fundraiser from Pathhead Christmas Lights! Pay £20 per year to enter a monthly prize draw.

All proceeds go directly towards maintaining/storing/erecting and dismantling the lights as well as increasing the number of lights. The Christmas Light Committee’s aim is to extend the lights even further for 2023.

The 100/200 Club is a lottery fundraiser which allocates each applicant a number which is kept for the year. For the cost of £20 per number per year, you have the chance of winning a prize. The monthly prize is determined by the number of people in the draw, the more numbers sold the bigger the prize!
The prize fund will be £50 per month.

How can I pay?

You can pay annually by cash/card/bank transfer at £20 per number.
