🎙️ As we’ve now turned the page to 2025, meet my first guest of the year for the NDV Podcast: Imogen.
Tune in on Saturday, 11 January to hear Imogen’s real life story. We talked about many topics, including her struggles with school attendance because she was totally misunderstood and often told that she was being dramatic when communicating her needs.
Hearing about autism through the eyes of a teenager, gives us a whole new perspective of neurodivergence, although everything that Imogen has gone through will not come as a surprise, given the current systems we have in place.
Despite all struggles, Imogen is now more confident as she understands her autistic self better. With a lot of support from her parents and curiosity to educate herself, she is now thriving in college. Want to know how and why?
Listen in 10 days on all digital platforms.
This episode contains video footage at the beginning and ending, however the interview is audio only as I am committed to make reasonable adjustments for all my guests.
Happy 2025, everyone!

🎙️Out now! This is the finale of season 2!
The wonderful Leila and I had an insightful conversation about her journey to late self-discovery of her neurodivergent brain. Leila brought up so many important topics to the interview, such as menopause, feeling like an outsider not only in the community but also in her own family. She shared how she developed a very common trait of neurodivergent people: people’s pleasing and how exhausting it can be.

If you haven’t yet watched Out of My Mind on Disney Plus, I absolutely recommend you do so.
Seeing a non-verbal character represented on a film is quite remarkable.
The film depicts powerful messages of how much we believe that speech is the only form of communication, when it’s not.
It also shows how common implicit bias can be and how discrimination can be a result of it.
It shows how cruel people can be towards difference.
It also shows that to have “that person” who believes and fights for those who are different can change lives.
It shows how the education system fails children with special needs.
And the main character has been named perfectly!
So get a pack of tissues ready and watch it!

A snippet from the next episode of the NDV Podcast, where Alex Richardson shares with me what he was picked on in school, when being bullied.
This interview has been remarkable. I became emotional more than once listening to Alex’s real life story. So please don’t mind my tears and the cut offs in the video because it happened more than once.
I cried because I heard some very cruel things, but overall I cried the most because of all the strength that Alex carries! I have no words to describe how much I am awe with all he has achieved and I admire his family very much for having raised such a wonderful person, who is confident, open and proud about being autistic.
Alex is the living proof that with love, understanding and a positive approach anything is possible.
So thank you so much @alexrichardsonautism for giving me the opportunity to interview you and for allowing me to share your autism journey!
I’m counting the days for Saturday to watch our interview on the digital platforms! You are an example to follow!

M got this guitar from my brother, who plays beautifully, as an incentive to get her into playing. This was 3 years ago, and the guitar has been almost untouched ever since.
In the past couple of days, I’ve been watching her picking the guitar up and exploring the strings and the sounds that they play, which she is finding fascinating.
On the top of that, she is also singing and incredibly in tune with the sounds she plays.
Today, I managed to capture her in a video and I wanted to share this moment with you.
Why is that?
Because being so passionate about music, I always dreamed of having her playing an instrument and singing. However as I learned how to change my expectations and understand that my daughter is not supposed to be what I want her to be, instead she is who she is and I let her lead through her interests.
Seeing her interested in the guitar, playing, singing, being creative, exploring her senses, her speech makes me the happiest and proudest mum.
Thank you, tio J.
Even if not pitch perfect and if the interest only lasts for a few days, it’s a massive win.
If we change our expectations and stop controlling what they should do and when they should do it, they will. It’s a matter of time.
