We were delighted to attend a book launch event held at St Albans Cathedral yesterday, celebrating the release of 'St Albans Abbey: The Excavation of the Chapter House 1978'. Edited by Martin Biddle, Birthe Kjølbye-Biddle†, Megan Kirkpatrick and Francis M. Morris, the book is available now in Hardback and PDF eBook editions from Archaeopress: https://www.archaeopress.com/Archaeopress/Products/9781803277080

It was great to meet so many involved in the excavations (and see some of the original signage!); the cathedral has a wonderful exhibit providing an overview of the excavation findings, and a selection of notable artefacts.

Huge thanks to all in attendance, to the Friends of St Albans for inviting us and making us so welcome, and to Professor Biddle and his co-editors for all their hard work in preparing the monograph for publication.

The cutting down of the tree in Sycamore Gap on Hadrian’s Wall in September 2023 caused widespread shock in Britain and beyond, and for many was felt as a personal loss. In a positive response to this sad event, David Breeze invited 80 friends and colleagues to offer personal reflections on their favourite view of the Wall. The views are presented in a visual celebration with photographs and specially commissioned line drawings, each accompanied by personal reflections. The wide-ranging contributions are testimony to the affection many hold for this evocative Roman frontier. 'Hadrian's Wall in our Time' is available now! http://doi.org/10.32028/9781803277349

UK and international orders (excl. EU, EAA and USA) typically ship within the following 3-4 days.

For customers in the EU, EEA and USA, books print and ship from local suppliers (unless otherwise specified on our website) within 7-10 working days of our processing the order.
