Sunday Jacob attended the last Newlands, Junior, match of, 2023. It was a one rod only match so we kept it simple, fish far bank at 9 wraps just off the ledge into the deep then catapult a few freebie offerings of Handcraft Baits herb over the top. Jacob wanted to try sweetcorn close in aswell so a few handfuls went out every so often just to keep this spot going if we need it or not!! after 45 minutes, he reeled in to check the rig, it was absolutely fine, so he recasted it out but wanted to put it right close to the far side at 9 1/2 wraps out which put it right close to far island and then put a few more freebies  over the top, but I was to put five or six offerings over the rig, every 15 minutes just to keep a little bit of bait flowing in the water, 10 minutes and he had his first fish a lovely dark mirror of around 6lb.  his hands were getting a little bit cold, so he’s asked me to cast for him and I’ll catapult broke as well. I fixed it but it was a little bit iffy. I also had to help him feed his swim, About another 45 minutes later, he was into another. This one a little bit bigger. He kept putting in the bait to get more fish in the area and it was definitely working about an hour to go and he was into his third fish a lot bigger common carp and went on the scales at around 11lb. He ended the match with 27lb which put him into 2nd place
And he won some lovely prizes at the end of the day from Newlands Angling Club, Drennan International and Gibbo's Tackle

So yesterday Jacob when to fish Marchant 773 Angling round 8 of the junior match at Tunnel Barn Farm draw peg 18 on club lake looks a good peg at first nice reed beds to the left and right margin it’s 14 m across to the other bank so that was well out of his pole reach so we optioned for two margin set ups, top kit +2 and a method for a bank if needed. At the start, he put a couple of cups in blakesbaits fine Expander ground bait down both edges and out in front very slow to start off with which got the better of Jacob at the start, but to be honest it was a slow start for everyone, but within an hour, Jacob had a couple more fish in the net with a couple of cheeky F1 so he’s starting to catch at that soon stopped. He opted to go into the margins which was just terrible(. For some reason nobody was catching anything down the margins🫣) He only had one out, and that was the end of that so an option to go over to the method far bank, which he stayed there for the rest of the day to the end of the match which paid off very well as he had himself quite a few more F1 by using ground bait/micros mix in his method feeder with 4mm catapult over the top, every so often with a 6mm pellet on band. Whistle was blown, and he ended with 23 lb 8 oz which put him in comfortable 4th position! Only two more rounds to go, he’s hoping for a couple more good results and aiming for a 4th/5th place overall in the league would be outstanding but either way he’s happy fishing. He even had a cheeky little snooze on the way home. 😝
