1) Who is behind this project and what stage is is at?
- Rutland Independent Radio is a not-for-profit project exploring the possibility of returning a dedicated Radio Station to Rutland in the form of a professionally run Community Radio Station. Rutland Independent Radio is a working group of like-minded local radio enthusiasts from Rutland and beyond! Our team has a successful background in set
ting up and managing local radio services. One of our successful community stations is Rugby And Daventry RADio.
2) Why do you delete any post regarding Rob Persani?
- We have answered this question many times both directly to people, on our website and within this page bio. Persani early on and he kindly declined our offer of involvement as he is contract-tied to the RCC project. I'm sure that you will all agree that keeping posts with his name on is unfair to him, the RCC project, ourselves and the people of Rutland as it causes confusion. In addition to this, we have been very clear from the outset: - It is important to note that this project is not affiliated with any existing proposals, previous projects or former presenters of ‘Rutland Radio’ (whom we love but are contract-tied to other projects) who’s aim was/is to return a dedicated Radio Station to Rutland – This project is fully independent. Furthermore, Rutland Independent Radio and Rutland And Stamford Sound are about as different as names can be for hyper-focused stations.
3) 'You have been soliciting sponsorship from local businesses'.
- We have responded to such requests in-as-far-as we have confirmed to businesses that this would be one of the income streams for the station, if it is launched.
4) 'You have been misleading people'.
- Please see our posts, website, page bio and all of the above points which are Copy/Pastes of these.
5) 'You are using someone else's photo on your website' [Our Personal Favourite!].
- Sir, it is a Royalty-Free stock image available for unrestricted use. 🙂
6) 'There are no obvious contact details'.
- [So how are you messaging us] also the [email protected] email address is on this page and the website.
7) 'They [we] are advertising for volunteers and taking your personal details'.
- Generally that's how applications work... we have had in the region of 30+ applications to volunteer, each of whom will get airtime on THEIR Community Radio Station.
8) 'You are using the Rutland Radio name, we are going to report you to Bauer Media'
- Not quite true, It was Rutland Community Radio then we changed to Rutland Independent Radio in a bid to be even more transparent! the FaceBook name will change in due course, there is a Pandemic on you know?!

We are currently looking for letters of interest from residents of Rutland whom may wish to present or volunteer for a professional community radio station in Rutland.
Applications are welcomed from Radio Presenters of varying skill and experience to assist in forming an holistic community radio team with strong Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity values, where experience and raw enthusiasm will complement each other and fully represent the communities that reside and work within the county.
Initially, any successful project will begin life narrowcasting legally online as a proof of concept to allow sufficient time for training and fundraising, but don’t let this put you off, one of our other community projects is online only and enjoys 6,000 listens a month! It’s not about what you do, it’s how you do it!
Online is a strong foundation, FM is due to be shutdown, Small-scale DAB is expensive and only really accessible if shared with multiple stations in the same licensing area, there are some Radio Professionals that argue 5G and the internet is the future of Radio....
No software or vast music collection is required as our professional remote radio studio software looks after all of that and you access that through your internet browser.
To start with all you need is enthusiasm, commitment, and a USB microphone!

Rutland Independent Radio is a project that is currently navigating through a rapid research phase (Commenced December 2020).
This project is not affiliated with any existing or previous projects (or presenters as yet) who’s aim was/is to return a dedicated Radio Station to Rutland.
We are looking for letters of interest from more talented locals whom would be interested in volunteering for a Rutland Community Station, backed up by our existing successful, small town radio projects.
A successful community radio needs the whole community to come together be that Presenters, Listeners or Sponsors, with that in mind, our inbox is ‘open’ to all of these!

BIG Thanks to everyone for their messages of support (and the naysayers too for the additional motivation! 🤪 )
We have been inundated with offers of support from such a diverse demographic and have had four sponsors come forwards ready to pledge their support.
There are some small targets for us to meet in the short term, one of which is achieving 1000 followers of this page. Could we ask that you ‘give us a share’ please to ensure your friends and family know about us?

Sorry that we’ve been quiet of late, we’ve been busier than a mouse in a cheese factory on overtime!

Good Morning from RCR HQ.
We are in the process of creating a website to better showcase our experience and plans for the information gained from this fact finding page.
Should we decide to move forwards, step 1 for all of our projects is an online platform to set the foundation needed to grow into other platforms such as DAB (one of our projects attracts 6,000 listeners online alone).
One thing that no one can deny, is that we are fast movers and backup the talk with the walk, if we can recruit, equip and train enough volunteers remotely we can complete stage 1 in a matter of WEEKS with the caveat that the presenter output is a work in progress, but at least it is a project that makes it off the drawing board!

Welcome to all of our new Page Likers!
Just a quick statement of clarity. We are not affiliated with any previous or existing projects who’s aim was/is to return local broadcasting to Rutland.
We are an independent team that has previously set up not-for-profit, voluntary, community stations for towns and smaller regions in the midlands that have lost their local stations to larger networks.
Two of our members are from Rutland and they suggested that there is a requirement for another such project here.
Setting up and maintaining a radio station is a complex and expensive task, whether that be a National, regional, commercial or community station.
In these days of digital, we can bring you a fully-functioning radio via Smartphone Apps / Alexa / Google Home / Online players / internet radio within 7 days. FM and DAB are certainly possibilities albeit expensive ones that don’t happen overnight.
Whilst we have the equipment, willingness and ‘know how’ - at present, this page is purely for fact finding so let us know your thoughts.
