Lee Nicholson’s DJ career began at Hardy’s Wine Bar in Nottingham, where he started booking bands and spinning records. From these humble beginnings, he quickly became a staple of Nottingham’s vibrant nightlife, DJing in iconic venues such as Ruby Tuesdays, The Arboretum, Sam Fay’s, and Rock City.
Lee’s career expanded beyond Nottingham as he toured the UK, headlining events and fronting the award-winning Disco Inferno. He also became a cult figure in student nightlife, earning notoriety as “The Cheeseman” and “DJ Crap,” and Spanner delivering unforgettable sets packed with humor and energy.
After his UK adventures, Lee returned to Nottingham, where he hosted the party room at Oceana/Pryzm until its closure. Currently, he holds a residency at the legendary Ocean nightclub, where he teams up with his partner in crime, “Vimto,” to keep the party alive for Nottingham’s student crowd.
Lee’s dynamic energy and dedication have made him a beloved figure in Nottingham’s nightlife scene and beyond.
Steve Hodgkinson aka Vimto
With over 30 years of DJing experience, Steve Hodgkinson, better known as “Vimto,” is a Nottingham dance music legend. Starting his career at the iconic Arcade Records, Steve quickly established himself as a force in the local club scene, DJing at renowned venues such as City Trading and The Hippo. His talent and passion led to a residency at the legendary Palais during the 1990s, a defining era for dance music in the UK.
Steve’s held long term residencies at Libertys Squares and performed guest sets at nearly every major club in the city, as well as in Leicester Square, London. He is also famously the man behind the global dance anthem “Toca’s Miracle”, a track that continues to electrify dancefloors worldwide. A seasoned performer, Steve has even taken the stage at Glastonbury, showcasing his ability to connect with audiences on the biggest stages.
Currently, Steve holds a residency at Ocean Nottingham, a beloved student club, alongside his long-time partner in crime, DJ Lee Nicholson. Together, they bring their decades of experience and infectious energy to Nottingham’s nightlife, continuing to inspire a new generation of music lovers.
