Man stabbed his former Nottingham Trent University lecturer 12 times

Ryan Usher, 49, armed himself with two knives before stabbing Dr Neil Turnbull 12 times at Nottingham Trent University's Clifton campus on 31 January 2022.

He was later diagnosed with a chronic delusional disorder and deemed unfit to stand trial.

Judge Stuart Rafferty KC told Mr Usher he would remain at a secure hospital.

Boy, 15, stabbed by man wearing balaclava

A 15-year-old needed hospital treatment after being stabbed in the street in Nottingham.

Police said the teenager was attacked by an unknown man wearing a balaclava near the junction of Brewsters Road and Ransom Road in St Ann's, at about 17:00 GMT on Monday.

Ashfield District Council gave the redevelopment at King's Mill Reservoir, in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, the go-ahead at a meeting on Wednesday.

The driver of a car that failed to stop after a crash involving a motorcyclist is being urged to come forward.

The collision happened at the junction of Queen's Road East and Tattershall Drive, Beeston, Nottinghamshire, at about 17:00 GMT on 12 January.

The motorcyclist, a man in his 20s, was treated in hospital for a hand injury that could require surgery.

Mansfield: Investigation after woman dies in house blaze

Firefighters and police were called to Princess Avenue in Forest Town at about 17:30 GMT on Thursday after a fire alarm had alerted neighbours.

A 57-year-old woman was declared dead at the scene and her family had been informed, Nottinghamshire Police said.

Nottinghamshire County Council already runs six of the existing 67 nature reserves in the county and wants to add five more.

It has started plans to get the new reserves designated, including preparing site management plans.

Arrest as armed officers seize air gun in Nottingham

A man has been arrested after a woman reported being hit with an object and threatened with a pistol.
Police were called to a house on Melrose Street, Nottingham, at about 21:15 GMT on Friday.

Armed officers searched the property and discovered an air gun.

The 35-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault and possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. He remains in police custody.
