In addiction I was a broken man. To say my life was unmanageable would be a vast understatement. I was robbed of my identity by the very trauma I had sought to mask and hide.

There are many lies we tell ourselves. I'm not worth saving, I'm unloved, I can't stop, I can't be fixed.

As harsh as this may sound to some telling yourself you are broken is a victim response. Broken does not necessarily mean beyond repair. Yes admitting you are broken is the 1st step to recovery but we are not meant to stay in that frame of mind. We grow.

We were victims of circumstance, Survivors of the events. Whilst we will always be survivors we need to remember that we are meant to grow and God wants us to thrive.

Victimhood is often mistaken as part of identity it isn't, it's a state of living in trauma. Survivorship is a state of being after trauma. Thrival is how we are intended to live.

To get there we do need to find courage and that can be difficult to find but you are braver than you think. Courage and boldness is the next logical step in recovery.

To be Bold is to thrive. Change perspective, change your life.

How you see yourself matters. Trauma robs you of self, of identity.

And if you're struggling to find that courage well there is one who can help you. He helps me every day.

His name is Jesus, may you find him now.

Brokenness is a temporary condition
Boldness is a permanent position

I've never been a fan of photos of myself. I have a dysmorphia about looking at my own face, about aging. I guess most people do right ?

Here's the thing.

I almost didn't age, I was almost forever 37. My life nearly ended in March 2015 and a dark few months would follow. I have lived a life of violence, of addiction, homelessness and mental illness. Every wrinkle, every scar earned. I have gone from 12 stone to 6 stone in illness and now I'm 16 stone.

I have fought mental, spiritual and physical battles in sobriety. I have changed my whole life for the better even though every battle has taken its toll and left it's mark on my body, on my face and reflected back through my ageing eyes.

In sobriety I have written 5 books, acted and consulted on 3 UK based Hollywood films, produced and directed 2 award and festival selected short films and about to embark on my first feature film.

I have remarried, built a speaking career, a following. I have an active relationship with God and I presume more of him in my ministry.

You see that face well I may not always be comfortable with it or even like it but I do love it, I do love me, finally.

Love you, love your face, love your journey. Every scar, every wrinkle is a story to be shared.

Love you like I love you. Love you like Jesus loves you.

Absolute bullcrap. I don't use music in my podcasts at all. Someone trying to claim revenue from my video that doesn't make revenue anyway. This feels personal. Why would someone submit a music claim where there is none.
