I found this note in my old work bag that I wrote when I was returning to work after 10 months off because of ill health. When we treat ourselves with kindness and compassion, we open up a whole new world inside of ourselves.

What can you do today for your future self to show them some kindness when they might need it most?

Both of Us workbook is available on our website as a one off purchase - hooray! This workbook is brilliant for giving you the space to let people around you know how you feel if you can't always find the words to say it out loud.

I haven't tried that... yet.
I can't play guitar... yet.
My baby is not latching on just right... yet.
I can't lift that heavy... yet
I don't know how to do that... yet.

If you start adding in the word YET to your vocabulary, I think you'll notice a difference in how you see the world, how you experience the possibilities around you and how you feel about yourself.

Next time you come across a stumbling block and feel like you can't do it, add the word yet and see how it changes the situation from a negative closed down, no. To an open, possibility filled, someday.

Here's some of my most recent examples:

"I don't know how to do small business taxes yet"
"I don't know where we'll do that yet, but I will find out!"

Try it and let us know how it felt!

I sat on a waiting list for 18 months to get therapy and I was only able to keep functioning because of the skills I had in my toolkit. This series is that toolkit.

I created this series to bridge the gap for people who need support with their mental health and mental health services.

I wanted this series to be a subscription because life gets busy, we forget to prioritise our selves and are left feeling burnt out. Our workbooks are delivered to you once every fortnight (or monthly) to help you continue to make your mental health a priority.

Soppy post alert.

We had a delivery today for some activities that are part of The Depression & Anxiety series and it made me feel overwhelming proud. Due to my ill health everything business related has been on the back burner for months whilst I focused on my health and recovery.

Without the skills I have to observe and manage my thoughts, I truly believe I'd still be feeling stuck and overwhelmed everyday. Do you need to learn some new skills to help you manage your thoughts? The workbooks I've created over the past year are designed to help you get back to being you. πŸ’š

Visit our website to subscribe today. You can get your first month for just Β£5.00.

When was the last time you apologised to yourself for the way you've been treating yourself?

I'd say it's pretty rare.
I've been experiencing a relapse in depression and anxiety due to physical health conditions and for a long time haven't been able to give myself the kindness and compassion I really deserve which has impacted on my recovery.

Today I decided to apologise to myself for being so unkind. It doesn't mean I'll never speak badly to myself again, but it shows that I'm working on it. That's all we can do, work on ourselves to help ourselves bit by bit, day by day.

What would you like to apologise apologise yourself for? Let us know I the comments x

Scandalous.

Anyone else a lil' sick and tired of anxiety taking up space in their bed?

It's funny writing sleep and anxiety in the same sentence because let's face it if your anxiety is heightened, your body will do what it can to keep you alert because it thinks its keeping you safe by doing so. No thank you Sabertooth tiger, I am awake so can defend myself therefore you cannot eat me. You get my drift. I hope.

The thing is, people cover up how much their anxiety affects them. You learn ways to push it down to make it less obvious to others because you don't only have the anxiety you're feeling in the moment to deal with, you have the anxiety of what you think they will think of you too.

So what do you do if anxiety is affecting your sleep?

- stay hydrated (just cos water literally keeps you alive soo.. πŸ’¦)
- limit your caffeine and sugar intake
- have a bedtime routine that involves winding down
- give yourself space to think before getting into bed
- write about what's bothering you
- deal with thoughts in the moment
- show yourself kindness
- talk back to those anxious thoughts
- use audiobooks/sleep stories when you get into bed
- keep your bedroom calm and clutter free

Our series gets you to explore your best sleep and wake times, because your bedtime needs to meet your needs, not a time someone else dictates to you. Our workbooks aim to get you back in control of your life.

TW

If you're someone who is experiencing or has experienced suicidal thoughts, did you know some of the suicidal thoughts you may experience could just be a way of your brain saying "AHHHH - I NEED A BREAK"?

The thing is... If we turn ourselves off, we can't switch ourselves back on again.
We can't hit restart and hope things will run smoother.
But we CAN learn to put on the screensaver and take a well deserved time out. Rest and recuperate.

Learn how to give your brain the breather it needs but don't turn it off.

There are crisis details in the comments if you need them. πŸ’š

You are not your thoughts.
What you think does not always come true however your body doesn't always recognise the difference between a real threat and a perceived threat, or a threat you've thought about. We can't stop the flow of thoughts we experience but we can change how we experience them.

How do you deal with your anxious thoughts?

07/09/2021

If you're supporting someone who's going through a tough time, showing them compassion, kindness and warmth is one of the most important things you can do. Especially if they really open up about how they feel and what they're thinking.

You can do this by listening, by hugging with permission, by helping them with tasks they're neglecting or finding too overwhelming, by asking them if they want to talk but not pressuring them, by making them feel heard.

What do you like those around you to do when you're struggling? Or what do you do to help someone who's struggling? Let us know in the comments.

Our subscription comes with a bonus workbook to help your loved one articulate how depression and/or anxiety makes them feel and what they feel may help them. Check out our website to find out more, the link is in the bio.

I got a scam text yesterday from the bank. I double checked on their website and none of the details matched up. It got me thinking about how there are things that happen in our lives now that make us second guess, make us question someone's intentions or make us want to withdraw.

There is SO much beauty in this world that can often be forgotten when all we hear/see/think is negative.

If you start really listening to what is impacting on your thoughts and your emotions, you can start working out what's best for YOU. Not anyone else. Just you.

You have a choice over the information you consume, that means externally and internally.

has arrived and if you've found yourself struggling to stay off your phone or social media, you are certainly not alone.

If you recognise you need to unplug you could:
Plan in regular short breaks, maybe a few times a week.
Make the conscious choice to put your phone away during meal times.
Limit your time you spend on certain apps.
Reduce your social media use.

Show yourself some kindness, you're doing the best you can.

Wow! We have been an active business for a whole 12 months and my goodness, it's been a rollercoaster. Thank you to everyone that has subscribed, shared, commented, DMd and liked what we have created.

The last 12 months have been full of highs and lows, high fives and self doubt but we wouldn't have it any other way because its got us to where we today.

We want to celebrate today with giving you all 20% off your entire subscription. We started this business a year ago to help people make real sustainable changes in their lives and to show up for them on days they can't show up for themselves because of their mental health. The more we all do to help our own and others mental health, the better our world will be.

Thank you again, Abbie & Aaron πŸ’š

The things that work the best take time and lots of effort, we are high maintenance beings. We believe that our physical and mental wellbeing are the most important thing in our lives, they are worth investing all we can into them. πŸ’š

Mindfulness, meditation, connecting with nature are some worthy mentions we couldn't fit in.

Feel free to share if you agree or found this helpful.

A fab article in the by Amelia Hill about how children's mental health has doubled over the lockdown. We have got to find a way to tackle this crisis. Schools, services and parents need investment from the government to tackle what is seemingly our next pandemic.
