I asked the Online Ouija Board if Kamala Harris will be the next U.S. President. Slowly and shakily the pointer went first to the Letter D and then to the letter C. DC. District of Columbia? I don't always ask the Online Ouija Board for its opinion but when I do, it is often interesting!

Veteran TV broadcaster Steve Sbraccia who spent several years in Boston media, has retired from TV after 17 years at CBS 17 in Raleigh NC. Steve, along with fellow Boston reporter Jerry Lopes famously spotted UFOS over a greyhound racetrack in the Bridgewater Triangle. He was featured in Aaron Cadieux and Manny Famolare's classic Bridgewater Triangle Documentary. I talked with Steve a time or two on the phone and he's a fascinating guy. Happy retirement Steve.

Back in the day the late Billy Barry and I peddled Clear Bright n Shiny at BJ's Wholesale Clubs from Boston to New York City. We racked up a lot of miles and sold a lot of soap! Today, our great pal, John Morash is the owner and star sales representative of the original Clear Bright n Shiny. Look for John and most fairs, flea markets and places of interest on Good Old Cape Cod!

August is a great time to go to Madawaska, Maine at the vert top of the 48 United States. Among the many events is a watermelon eating contest....free watermelons, all you can eat!!!!!!

On the road from South Florida to Cape Cod a few weeks ago, I found a ten-cent payphone at a road-side rest area. I lifted the receiver off the hook and got a dial-tone! I wanted to make a call but all I had was credit cards and at&t wanted a silver dime!

Going down into the 50s tonight in St. John's Newfoundland where Emmie Lou Harris is currently touring. She stopped into O'Brien's Musci Store this afternoon and as you can see, she's dressed for the weather. Emmy Lou has had about six number one country hits and also has had success on the pop charts.

Stop and Shop is set to close 9 "underperforming" stores in Massachusetts including Route 44 in Raynham, which has been a busy, busy store for decades. If the store has been underperforming it might be due to the fact that an Aldi opened up near it several years ago. Aldi's prices are far lower than Stop and Shop - at least it seems so to me. Maybe the Big supermarket needs to take a lesson from Aldi, the little supermarket.

Woke up this mornin’ at six thirty
and it was cloudy, and hot.
I kissed her pillow good mornin’
and grabbed a coffee from the pot
It was yesterday’s, it was cold,

Out the window I saw a twisted old tree
All knotted and gnarled it looked like me.
Yah see, I got the empty pillow blues
yes-sir, yes ma’am, that’s the sad news
and the only cure that I can track
is, I just gotta get that woman back.
Went to work and just made fake motions
lonely and sad are my real emotions.
They sent me home from the job
for being unshaven and looking like slob
And that night it didn’t feel just right
when I kissed her pillow good night
It was cold, and I just don’t wannit,
unless her pretty head is back on it.
Yah see. I got the empty pillow blues.
That’s the sad news.
And the only cure that I can track
is, that I gotta get that woman back.

Madawaska Maine in summer. Mad-town is the northernmost town in the 48 united/adjacent states. I went there back in the very early 1960s to help a recently launched English speaking radio station in an area where 60 per cent of the population spoke French. Even today, the old folks still speak French, but English is the preferred language of the younger generations. The radio station did quite well, and in my time there I was the first Deejay to play the great trucking song "Tombstone Every Mile". In studio, I interviewed the singer, Dick Curless who told me he had a trunkful of his records. Dick said he was going from Maine to Nashville, stopping at every radio station along the way to give them a copy of his song. By the time he got to Music City, his tune was NUMBER 5 on the hit parade!!!!!

Poutine!!!! It's on special for all of July!!! --- Poutine! It's at Big Rick's Burgers and Wings in Madawaska, Maine - the Northernmost city in the United States. Only 439 miles from Boston and just 1855 miles from my home in Lake Worth Beach, South Florida. Worth the trip!!!!!

Country music king Willie Nelson's Outlaw tour hits Mansfield Mass today, but the 91-year-old star will not be performing. He's been under a doctor's orders rest for the past week and is feeling better but won't resume his part of the tour until later in the week.

As I head towards my 81st birthday in November, I fondly recall this photo of me and my granddaughters taken 23 years ago at Easter. I was proudly wearing one of the girl's hats! I 'm happy to say that those 2 plus decades since the picture was taken, have not raced by. They have gone slowly, and I 'used' each day of those years, taking them gradually, and in small bites like a great Pizza Pie from Joe's Pizza in Beverly, Mass. Small bites, well chewed - it makes the days a little longer and better remembered!

The late Italian teenager Carlo Acutis is soon to be named the Patron Saint of the Internet by Pope Francis. Carlo died from Leukemia in 2006 at the age of 15 but did many amazing things in his short life. The following is the account of the miracle attributed to him that has led to his sainthood. "In 2022, a Costa Rican woman, Valeria, named as Lilliana's daughter, had fallen off her bike and suffered a brain hemorrhage with doctors giving the daughter a low chance of survival. Lilliana prayed for the intercession of Acutis and visited his tomb. The same day, Valeria began to breathe independently again and was able to walk the next day with all evidence of the hemorrhage having disappeared.[115] On 23 May 2024, Pope Francis recognized this as Acutis' second miracle and approved the promulgation of canonization to finalize the process to make Acutis the first Millennial saint."

The record high temperature for Lake Worth Beach, South Florida, set in 1995 is 92 degrees....and the weather forecasters say that we will hit 94 tomorrow - a new record! Not to worry, the ocean is a comfortable 80 degrees!

Every radio program on CBS from the year I was born....a few of them, most notably Arthur Godfrey Time, were still going strong on good old radio in 1958, that was 17 years later when I graduated from high school

Boston's Kenmore Square back in the 19 hundreds, where I went to school, Grahm Jr. College. Other grads included Gary LaPierre of WBZ radio and TV, and Andy Kaufman, an eccentric comedian who is probably remembered best for his work as "Latka" on the 1890s sitcom "Taxi" - but he was far funnier in his Tonight Show appearances singing the Mighty Mouse cartoon theme, or his wrestling gigs, or as his alter-ego, the obnoxious lounge singer Tony Clifton.

The North and South of it.....I've lived in or very near to the Northernmost city in the 48 United States as well as the Southernmost city. Up Norh it is Madawaska, Maine where the high temperature tomorrow will be about 55. 2078 miles to the South is Key West, Florida where tomorrow's high will be 86. I loved Maine, but I gotta say 86 beats 55 by a whole lot!
