Did you know North Macedonia has a great microclimate for wine making with over 22,000 hectares of vineyards? It’s not somewhere you would immediately think of when you think of wine but it is delicious 😋

Now, picture this, it’s a beautiful sunny day and you’re sat out on a terrace with someone topping up your glass with crisp fresh wine…

Or it’s chucking it down outside and you’re looking for the perfect rainy day activity, hoping the raki will warm you through.

Guess which was my day? 😂

I highly recommend a visit to the wine monastery for wine tasting no matter the weather. I booked it through Viator (i will link in my story) as this option Included a pick up and drop off service from Ohrid Town. There are a range of tasting options available. I opted for the 5 wines and brandy tasting, accompanied by charcuterie.

It was such a great informative day and I even made friends with the couple on the table next to me (im friendly after a wine!) who bagged me extra wines to taste so safe to say I didn’t leave sober 🤪

Black and White or Colour?

There’s something captivating about the starkness of black and white photography. The sharp lines and intricate details truly come to life. Yet, when it’s time to share my photos, I find myself irresistibly drawn to the vibrant allure of color.

Life is a tapestry of shades and hues, and it’s the infusion of color that adds depth and intrigue to our world 🌈

Isn’t there something completely magical about rolling green fields intertwined by drystone walls, bathed in golden sunbeams?

This is Wensleydale, one of over 20 ‘Dales’ that make up the Yorkshire Dales in North Yorkshire 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Did you know Wensleydale is famous for it’s cheese?🧀 My favorite is Wensleydale and Cranberry cheese, if you have never tried it get it added to your shopping list 😋 and if you’re in the area make a visit to in Hawes 😃

I’m currently dreaming of the days when those sun rays will produce more heat than they are currently 🥶

The Christ of Havana: A Majestic Symbol of Faith, Beauty & Cuban tradition;

Local legend says it’s holding a cigar in one hand and a glass of rum in the other. I agree 🤭, would you?

The Christ of Havana, also known as "Cristo de la Habana" in Spanish, stands tall atop the hill of La Cabaña fortress, it is made of white Carrara marble, imported from Italy and it was completed in 1958.

From its elevated position, the statue offers an unparalleled panoramic view of Havana so pop it on your list for things to do and see in Havana, Cuba if you’re a view point lover like me 📸

So, last but not least on my things to do in Wrocław…

I had 2.5 days here and because it was winter I easily managed to fit the sights of Wroclaw into 1.5 days so I decided to spend a day exploring somewhere else too.

I got the train to a town called Zgorzelec (don’t ask me to pronounce this one), which is on the border of Germany 🇩🇪 the train was just over 2 hours mainly through the Polish countryside.

From here I wandered into Germany 👣 (anyone else easily pleased with the ease of the EU?) to a city called Gorlitz and what a charming little city it is.

It is well known for its well preserved medieval and renaissance architecture. It is also the filming location for for quite a few movies: The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Book Thief and Inglorious Basterds 🎥

Scroll to the last photo for another interesting fact about this city ⏰

Is there anything else you’d like to know about Wrocław/Gorlitz or my trip? Just ask 😊

You need to save this post to come back to when you’ve booked (83% of you said it was on your list from my stories poll 😃)

Things to do in Wrocław:

1. Most importantly is to eat Bigos and Pierogi 🤤
2. Explore the Old Town: Take a stroll through the charming streets of the Old Town, visit the Market Square and admire the colorful buildings and architecture.
3. Have a rest and eat more Bigos and Pierogi
4. Visit the Wrocław Cathedral: Located on Cathedral Island (Ostrów Tumski), you can climb the tower for panoramic views of the city
5. You’ll have worked up an appetite so you’ve earnt more bigos and pierogi
6. Visit the Panorama of the Battle of Racławice: This massive and unique painting depicts a historic battle and offers an immersive experience- learn from my mistake and request the audio guide in your language for translation 🫣
7. Eat more bigos and pierogi whilst pondering how incredible the art is that you were going to give a miss because you thought it would be a bit dull
8. Find some photo worthy doors
9. You guessed it 🍴🥟
10. Go dwarf hunting
11. Roll onto your flight home

Other things depending on the time of year:
1. Climb the tower in St Mary Magdalene church and cross the bridge (it was closed when I went)
2. Watch the multimedia fountains - only operating in the summer months
3. Take a boat tour down the river and see all the bridges (it was to cold for me)

If you’ve been would you add anything else?

Which photo angle do you like best?

I set out to be a rebel today and post a single photo because I miss the days when Instagram was all about that one shot but then I couldn’t choose just one to post and it seems a shame they’ll be sat on my camera roll never to be seen by anyone. So Instagram, you win! I’ll admit it, I quite like a carousel, it’s only taken me a few years but here we are. Maybe I’ll be saying the same about reels in 2025? 😂

Anyway, these are from my trip to Cambridge a few weeks ago. What a beautiful city 😍 and just look at the colour of the leaves on that tree 💛

I thought I’d arrived in Amsterdam with all the bikes 🚲 and then I overheard everyone speaking in the Queens English and a very intense conversation between 2 chaps about how it important it is for England to be fiscally independent (you need read this with a silver spoon in your mouth) and the I realised it’s famous for its university💡(duuurh!)

Does anyone know what fiscal independence is? (Asking for a friend 😅)

More about BERGAMO! 🇮🇹

1. 📍 this photo was taken as I got off the funicular (San Vigilio) going up to the castle. Amazing views over the city 🤩

2. 📍San Vigilio castle. There isn’t much to see of the castle itself but it’s free and the views over the countryside and city are great. I also found it quiet and peaceful with not many people up there if you want to escape the tourist rush of the city ✨

3&4.📍I opted to walk back down rather than taking the funicular and I’m pleased I did as I got spectacular views all the way.

5&6. 📍The beautiful church Santa Maria Maggiore. It is also right next to the Cathedral.

7. 📍Viale Delle Mura (you can get bus no. 1 here) this is where I witnessed one of the most breathtaking sunsets I have ever seen in Europe 😍

If you’re stuck on time and where to go whilst you’re in BERGAMO then you could opt for a guided tour - I will add a link to my stories.

Tell me which is your favourite photo spot?
